Business Unit

The GPC (Global Project Center) Structure and Piping department is looking for a Senior engineer specialized in structure design to join the engineering team based in Paris. Your missions will lead you to work in close collaboration with all the engineers within the GPC.

Description of role

Reporting to a Lead Engineer and or Engineering Manager, you will provide engineering and technical expertise to the project team, supporting more senior engineers or managers.  The requirement is to produce detailed engineering to deliver project work, managing aspects of the team as agreed with the Management team. Work may include supporting studies and tenders as well as live projects.  Senior Engineers may be technical specialists within a specific discipline and support the knowledge management and technology initiatives relating to the discipline.

As a Senior Engineer you:

  • Provide specialist skills, integrity and knowledge in project or discipline engineering, including design codes, legislative requirements and current good engineering practice.
  • Understand clients' needs; identify and address design parameters and problems; develop and implement solutions.
  • Independently evaluate, organize and prioritize work under limited supervision.
  • Undertake responsibility for production of deliverables, which may include engineering support to the Drawing Office, design calculations, specifications, procedures, analyses, progress reports, bid evaluations, study reports and various 3rd-party submissions.
  • Sign and issue technical documentation as originator or checker, accepting personal responsibility for its adequacy.
  • Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed.
  • Represent the Company in meetings/correspondence with Clients, Subcontractors, 3rd Parties etc., in a technical capacity.
  • Train and mentor more junior engineers.

Key qualification/experience

  • Engineer Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 7 years experience in the SURF business, Oil and gas or Energy sector
  • Steel structure design, material strength, Naval architecture, piping design
  • Knowledge of industry codes (API, AISC, DNV, ISO), standards and guidelines
  • Knowledge of piping, connectors, valves and forgings and associated codes.
  • FEA practice and associated softwares (NSO/Isymost, Abaqus)
