Your mission

The Global Projects Centre & Asia Pacific (GPC & AP) is Subsea 7's centre of excellence for the execution of its largest projects worldwide.

Within the "Risers, Installation Analyses and Umbilical" (RIAU) department, you will be responsible for supporting tender and/or project for topics related to riser design including global Analyses, installation Analyses and technical follow-up of the subcontracted components (Strakes, Flexible joints, Buoyancy modules etc.). Successful candidate will also contribute to the development of discipline through various work on Technology development and / or continuous improvements initiatives.

Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Coordinate a team of Engineers (Typically from 2 to 8) to meet the required project constraints on required engineering works, optimisation, workload, schedule etc.
  • Produce and check the design documentation including feasibility reports, detailed in place design reports, specifications, material take-offs, etc. related to dynamic riser system / static jumper system.
  • Lead/Perform the in-place design analysis with OrcaFlex, as per design brief and basis.
  • Check the design and analysis done internally or by external party. Review the associated engineering activities.
  • Manage interface with Project team, other engineering departments, Quality, and SCM etc.
  • On tender or project, ensure a follow up with Welding and Materials team, Pipeline Group, SCM, and Quality to ensure fabrication of the riser will be compliant with planned design.
  • On tenders and project, participate to the elaboration of task, definition of priorities for the team, set up the planning, set up the activity register, manhours budget follow up, technical changes, convergence plan etc.)
  • Understand Client requirement, develop specification for suppliers, and support the selection of the Supplier through technical bid evaluation.
  • Ensure designs are in accordance with acknowledged industry Codes, Standards and Design Guides (e.g. API 17J, DNVGL-ST-F201, API RP 2STD/2RD); Client Specifications, Scopes of Work, Subsea 7 Internal Standard.
  • Be aware of the overall project planning and responsible for planning the team’s scope of work and actions.
  • Ensure progress and compliance of the supplier in close interface with SCM and Quality function.
  • Provide engineering assistance during mobilisations and occasional periods of offshore or site working, including FATs, SITs, Pre-commissioning, etc.
  • Ensure that know-how is transferred within the discipline. Attend to discipline meeting as required, Train engineers.

Your profile

  • MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering/Hydrodynamics.
  • You have a strong knowledge of riser design
  • Relevant work experience in the oil and gas industry or equivalent, ideally with in place / installation analyses of riser systems (rigid, flexible, or umbilical).
  • You have already led small engineering teams
  • You are proficient in FEA modelling and you know well OrcaFlex software.
  • Your English is fluent

  • Proactively undertake responsibility for production of deliverables (which may include drafting office, design calculations, specifications, procedures, analyses, progress reports, bid evaluations, study reports and various 3rd-party reports).

 Working Condition

  • Majority of the work is carried out in the regional main office site – Sutton or Suresnes
  • Offshore / Off-site location during project Execution phase as required.
  • Working hours according to local regulation and Company's policy
