Seaway 7 Supply Chain Management

The Supply Chain Management team has the responsibility to develop SCM strategies and to engage the supply lines for designated materials and services. Strong supply chain plans are key to the success of our projects. These projects may comprise of a multitude of very large dollar packages and will have a direct and significant impact on the cost base and success of Seaway 7.

Who we are looking for?

Due to continued expansion, we have an exciting opportunity for a SCM Category Lead (Subsea Cables) to join the team in one of our main office locations on a full-time, long-term basis. Our cables team have their HQ in Leer in Germany so a preference would be for a candidate to be based there, however we also have cables support based in Zoetermeer, The Netherlands, Aberdeen, UK and Oslo, Norway and are happy for successful candidates to be based there.

In terms of experience, we are looking for a high calibre SCM professional with significant experience in the offshore cables supply chain. You will have proven ability to pro-actively develop robust supply chain management strategies in the offshore cables space. Since this is a category SCM position, such strategies will have a tender and project overarching character. This role is serving the entire Seaway 7 business.  

The type of person we are looking for is a strong communicator, comfortable operating through various levels of the organisation and with a diverse range of external stakeholders. The position requires you to have strong analytical skills combined with a high sense of ownership to deliver effective and economical solutions. You will be a highly motivated self-starter who thrives on pro-actively engaging with people. You are driven to investigate and produce robust and innovative solutions for the team and our clients. During gate review meetings with senior management, you will be a confident presenter, able to debate in a well-argued manner, the pros and cons of matters under your responsibility.

What does the role involve?

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of responsibilities associated with the Category. Key responsibilities are listed below. This is not an exhaustive list as the role will be highly varied.

  • Develop and execute a robust Supply Chain Management strategy for the Subsea Cables Category.
  • Work closely with all internal and external stakeholders to collect all information required to engage the category supply lines efficiently and economically.
  • Support SCM Leads on tenders and projects in securing category packages.
  • Develop relationships and lead negotiations with category suppliers.
  • Perform commercial analysis; normalize and evaluate bids received. Incorporates technical evaluations from support disciplines including Engineering, Planning, QHSE, Contracts / Legal.
  • Participate in internal gate review meetings, bid summaries and award recommendations.
  • Initiate and participate in supplier performance evaluations and ensure adoption of lessons learned.

What do you need to have?

  • You will be degree qualified at Bachelor level or equivalent in a technical, commercial or legal discipline.
  • You will have least 10 years of experience working within the energy industry, with a strong focus on subsea power cables.
  • You will be a strong communicator and negotiator, with the ability to converse in English in both written and spoken word at a very high level. Being proficient in other languages is a strong advantage.
  • You will be an advanced user in Microsoft Office.
  • You will have strong leadership skills and the ability to manage, motivate and collaborate effectively with teams and individuals across the business.
