Our newly appointed Offshore Development Manager is seeking an experienced Learning & Development (L&D) Advisor to support the creation and delivery of the L&D plan for our offshore workforce.  The role will ensure our L&D programmes run smoothly and deliver a quality service to our diverse workforce.

Through use of digitalisation and innovative approaches, including online learning, our L&D Advisor will enhance existing learning routes.  In doing so, providing further opportunities to develop knowledge, understanding and skills and to set a future path to manage the challenges of our energy transition plan.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work with a diverse, multiskilled and global workforce within a future thinking organisation.  It is suited to someone who enjoys a varied workload, is comfortable in a hands-on role and is adaptable to changing responsibilities from co-ordinating activities to devising and delivering learning. 

Applications must clearly demonstrate role relevant experience specifically within L&D (our Training & Competency activities are already managed elsewhere in the business).

Flexibility and mobility is required in order to undertake occasional travel and vessel visits (mainly while in-port) as part of this support role.

What does the role involve?

This highly varied role supporting offshore, operational site and office-based personnel across our global locations will include, but is not limited to, the following duties:

  • Leading the on-going development of our offshore cadet & other offshore programmes
  • Providing L&D expertise to the offshore learning management system team to ensure the system meets our learner needs
  • Co-ordinate the overall offshore appraisal process
  • Supporting talent management processes offshore
  • Working with Communications to showcase our activities on our intranet, Yammer & other channels
  • Administers offshore opinion survey system
  • Delivering our annual Festival of Learning
  • Co-ordinating the implementation of Diversity and Inclusion and Well Being initiatives
  • Co-ordinates programmes and scheduled events by arranging providers, issuing joining instructions, updating training records, payment of invoices, & collecting feedback
  • Supports HR teams with specialist L&D advice on induction, performance management, L&D solutions, career development and talent management
  • Development of learning content using our e-Learning authoring tool and other digital methods
  • Providing reports to management
  • Delivering your areas of responsibility in line with your budget

What do you need to have?

  • You will have experience in facilitating and organising L&D activities for groups of team, with a preference for experience dealing with remote teams.
  • A progressive thinker, you will have experience in remote/online learning techniques and seek to devise and deliver new and innovative learning methods relevant to your audience needs.
  • You will be highly organised with a keen attention to detail.
  • You will have a passion for learning and development and will take pride in being part of someone’s learning and development experience.
  • Must be highly proficient in IT systems, particularly in programmes such as Excel and PowerPoint, Sharepoint would be advantageous.
  • Ideally you will have experience and knowledge of a Learning Management System and/or with digital content
  • You will be a pro-active person, willing to take on responsibility but also able to work as part of a team.
  • You must be customer focused with a friendly attitude and be confident in communicating with all levels of personnel.
  • Ideally you will have experience of dealing with global or highly diverse groups of people.
