OVERVIEW OF ROLE

Working as a planning engineer is a great opportunity to get an overview of our various disciplines, an overview of the full project cycle, and requires a lot of communication with various team members. You will learn lots of technical aspects  & challenges we have on our projects and this will open opportunities for  any of the other disciplines we have at Subsea7!

The FOW Planning engineer shall be part of the GPC&AP Planning department resource pool.

The FOW planning engineer would support primarily the floating wind team, but maybe involved as required in Oil & Gaz projects, as per business need.

The role is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and follow-up of all planning activities within a project/ tender including interface with other Project Controls roles.

The Planner is mentored by a lead planner and/or discipline lead/ manager.

SPECIFIC KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES

  • Be the focal point of contact for all activities related to planning on a project, FEED or tender(s)
  • Develop various scenarios to support the execution strategy
  • Work with FOW team and planner to ensure alignment and standard tools and process used
  • Support FOW team into way of working and tools improvement
  • Be forecast oriented, anticipating and alerting at early stage issues & impacts
  • Understand projects/ tenders’ requirements; identify & address planning scenarios and problems; develop and implement solutions.
  • Establish, maintain and follow up plans/networks as the single source of truth and progress reporting for new and established projects in accordance with Client, Subsea7, GPC, FOW and SIA Planning & progress procedures.
  • Support tender activity when applicable, prepare all deliverables in accordance with Client, Subsea7, GPC&AP, Floating Wind & SIA planning procedures and review ITT for qualifications; be pro-active and propose plan and solution to tender team.
  • Project - Develop robust baseline schedule & reporting tools, including S-curves & float table, to ensure timely delivery of the project.
  • Development of project specific procedures including Work Breakdown Structure and progress measurement methods in accordance with Client's requirements.
  • Organise flow of planning and progress information with internal and external sources, including establishing reporting routines for sub-contractors and follow up of progress.
  • Prepare reports as per internal process & project’ specificities: progress, critical paths, float management, deviations, forecast
  • Review, verify accuracy & implement sub-contractors plans into main schedule/plan
  • Review, verify accuracy & implement disciplines detailed plans into main schedule/plan
  • Assure that schedule impact of changes related to the scope of the contract gets analyzed in due time and implemented into relevant plans and be proactive in early identification of deviations and corrective actions
  • Participate pro-actively, assuring good communication and follow-up of internal and external activities in the project. Reporting consequences/changes related to planned progress according to agreed reporting frequency.
  • Prepare schedules as requested and by anticipation, proposing scenarios; detailed schedules, what-if simulations/ scenarios.
  • Prepare smart presentation/summary for the Project/ Tender team to discuss, summarize and validate the planning assumptions and basis.
  • Work as per quality process & keep record of main changes made to schedules through various revisions on tender/ project.
  • Record and backup all as-built and Lesson learned, official and working document to ensure benchmark and handover.
  • Actively work together with other disciplines to ensure quality & accuracy of deliverable.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

Preferred Experience & Education

  • Education equivalent to degree in Engineering and Administrative/Business discipline
  • Relevant first experience in the renewable, subsea or offshore environment or planning (>2 years).
  • Software: Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project (preferred)
  • Previous project experience would be appreciated.
  • Good level of English

Skills & Knowledge

  • Basic knowledge of planning techniques and analysis
  • Ideally an understanding of current Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, and Offshore Installation processes in the Oil and Gas or Offshore Wind Sector.
