OVERVIEW OF ROLE
Subsea 7 is looking for Designers who can strengthen the team and support our growth plans within the Global
Project Centre & Asia Pacific (GPC & AP) Engineering Team based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We will consider
applications at Designer Level I, II or Senior for this role.
Reporting to the CAD Deputy Discipline Manager, you will be producing 2D/3D models, procedural and design
drawing for the fabrication of subsea structures and ancillaries for subsea installation of SPS, SURF, offshore
renewables as well as pipeline design related drawings.
Specific Key Responsibilities & Activities
Prepare design/fabrication drawings of steel structures and piping (P&IDs/Isometrics) using AutoCAD and
Inventor software
Prepare pipeline related drawings e.g. field layouts, alignment sheets, approach drawings and crossings
Able to support Installation activities by preparing Installation / Rigging drawings according to drawing office
procedures and standards
Design/Model subsea structures and equipment using 3D Inventor software for fabrication drawings,
Conceptual FEED Studies and Tender support
Interface with other disciplines to obtain input for designs and drawings and to develop clash free designs
Assist in the identification of technical problems and contribute with possible solutions
Conduct self-check on model/drawings/sketches
Undertake checking of others work in a project or department environment within own experience and
competence level with good attention to detail
Prepare drawings and sketches consistent with good engineering practice and in compliance with company
drawing office procedures
Ensure all drawings and sketches are produced with high safety consciousness being in line with Subsea 7
safety standards and expectations.
Assist Fabrication as required in the resolution of construction difficulties relating to design problems,
clashes, etc
Provide feedback and input to improve departmental standards, working methods and guidelines
Actively participate in training and development opportunities to ensure continuing professional development
Essential Experience, Skills and Knowledge
Technical education preferably related to civil, structural or mechanical engineering
Proficient in the use of Autodesk Inventor 3D
Proficient in the use of Autodesk AutoCAD 2D/3D (Mechanical/Civil)
Experience in design/drafting of (subsea) steel structures including piping and/or pipelines
Experience in other non-technical software e.g. MS Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Ability to function within multiple disciplines design team across multiple projects
Ability to prioritize, organize and deliver work to deadlines set by the management and project
Good communication skills in English, both verbally and written
Commitment to Continuing Professional Development
Technical knowledge and interest in subsea engineering and offshore renewable energy
Presents self in a professional manner appropriate to the role
Ability to work closely as a team
Desirable Experience, Skills and Knowledge
Trained in the use of SolidWorks 3D
Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D for alignment sheet production
Experience working in a Subsea engineering environment or Renewable energy
Fabrication yard experience, good understanding of challenges during structure fabrication
Experience working with offshore field layouts and route planning and general subsea field development
Knowledge of Autodesk Vault Professional for data (drawings/models) management
Experience in Virtual Reality (VR)
