THE ROLE

Environmental Intern – Offshore Resources

The Subsea 7 Environmental Function is seen as a trusted Business Partner.  Part of our wider HSEQ team, having a full awareness and understanding of what E means in HSEQ is essential to fulfil our obligations to the environment.  

We are therefore delighted to offer Students the opportunity to apply for a six-month part-time placement in an organisation which champions collaboration and learning.  Applying Students must be currently undertaking, or have recently achieved, a relevant Environmental degree.

Our Environmental Intern will commence in September 2022 and will operate around the academic timetable, working up to a maximum 20 hours per week during term time. 

This role will assist our Environmental Advisor in with the development and implementation of processes, procedures, work methods and initiatives in support of Subsea 7’s environmental strategies within the Offshore Resources business unit.

The jobholder will provide a support function to project management activities undertaken by the Environmental Advisor and wider team, ensuring sufficient environmental input within projects and operations. The jobholder will promote and ensure compliance with regulatory HSE requirements, Subsea 7 HSEQ policies and procedures, and Client HSE requirements.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

OUTLINE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES

  • Assisting with the management of the Subsea 7 Environmental Management System
  • Assisting with the application of the Environmental Plan and audit schedule
  • Assisting with the interpretation of environmental legislation, standards, codes and regulations and their potential impact on the Company
  • Supporting worksite management with audits, inspections and technical queries
  • Assisting with site EMS inspections/audits as part of Fleet audit plan
  • Collation and calculation of key monitoring and measurement data
  • Assisting as required in response to environmental incidents and risks
  • Maintaining various environmental aspects registers, systems and documents
  • Monitoring actions relating to worksites EMS activities
  • Assisting in evaluation of Suppliers / Subcontractors / Vendors HSE processes for Supply Chain Management approval

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant Environmental qualification or working towards achieving.
  • Excellent IT skills including use of Microsoft Office applications.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Committed to in-role learning and studying towards professional qualification.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, accustomed to report writing.
  • Collaborative team worker who also demonstrates initiative and ownership.
  • Numeric, has excellent analytical skills, and an ability to work with detail and ensuring accuracy.
  • Adaptable with a hands-on approach to supporting the team.
  • Pro-active and solutions-based, questions and will challenge the status quo.
  • Strong planning and organising skills with the ability to prioritise workload and deliver work within project structure.
