Senior Buyer AMEC

Location: Paris- France

We provide project management, engineering and construction expertise across the full field lifecycle. These services are delivered within three operational business units: Subsea and Conventional, Life of Field, and Renewables and Heavy Lifting.

Within Africa, Middle East & Caspian region (AMEC), we safely execute Subsea and Conventional projects which connect seabed wellhead infrastructures to surface facilities such as platforms and floating production systems. We are actively present in a significant number of countries in Africa, Europe, Caspian Sea, Middle East and Asia.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

Purchasing professional required to work in a busy environment where prioritizing workload, meeting deadlines and  achieving value for money is expected. Excellent supply chain knowledge and relevant experience is required.   
All appropriate training will be provided to the successful candidate. 

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Broad knowledge of procurement functions, forms of contract and procedures.
  • Contact a range of suppliers to obtain quotations, agree delivery times and place commitment based on price, quality and according to customer demand, company policy and budget.
  • Source alternative products and reviewing existing ones to ensure prices remain competitive with no compromise to quality. 
  • Meets suppliers and negotiates the most favorable terms of contract.
  • Assesses the reliability of sub-contractors and suppliers. 
  • Ensuring that equipment is delivered to the right place at the right time.
  • Managing the system generated GR/IR and Blocked Invoice reports ensuring that they are kept up to date.
  • Ability to work within an extremely busy department and cope with the pressure of meeting demanding targets and working to tight deadlines.
  • Liaise closely with personnel in other departments within the organization.
  • Daily expediting of all the Purchase Orders assigned to him/her to ensure the timely delivery of materials, whilst corresponding with vendors.
  • Report any revised delivery schedules for critical/urgent orders to the Project Material Lead and/or Package Coordinator and update delivery schedules in the Project Expediting Report Spreadsheet.
  • Produce and update weekly & monthly Project Expediting Reports.
  • Attend Projects weekly meetings and give updated status of main or critical supplies
  • Organize kick of meetings, pre-inspection and technical meetings with vendor and review purchase order
  • Ensure suppliers define a supply preparation plan to cover all phases of the preparation cycle (engineering, procurement, construction, inspection and preparation for shipment) in accordance with contract dates.

Qualifications and Education:

  • General Education: Degree or equivalent level is desirable
  • Continuing Professional Development: A desire to further their education in a work-related qualification

Skills 
 
Technical (including IT):

  • Familiar with all Microsoft packages
  • SAP experience desirable

Interpersonal:

  • Ability to communicate at all levels, negotiate costs savings

Self-Management:

  • Should be able to work on own initiative as well as being part of a team

EXPERIENCE:

  • Sufficient experience gained in a purchasing environment
  • Previous experience in the subsea sector of the oil and gas industry, UK oil & gas experience desirable

Managerial Experience:

  • Ability to self-manage

Knowledge:

  • Able to demonstrate a complete understanding of all purchasing functions, processes, procedures and forms

  • Operate within the Business Code of Conduct
  • Operate according to Subsea 7's Management Principles
  • Support standards and procedures for the Human Resources Function
