Seaway 7 have an exciting opportunity for a Project HSE Manager to join our Business Unit 1 HSE team, initially on the Seagreen Offshore Wind Farm EPCI project.  The HSE Manager is a key member of the Seagreen project management team, providing leadership on all aspects of the project’s HSE performance. The position is the project focal point for all HSE matters and is primarily focussed on managing HSE performance and promoting a positive HSE culture within the project.

The position will provide functional support to each of the project packages to ensure adequate HSE resources are maintained to meet regulatory requirements and Seaway 7 HSE policies, standards, and procedures.

Through the provision of leadership, mentoring and coaching the HSE Manager will ensure the effective and consistent implementation of the Seaway 7 Business Management System and project HSE plans across all project operations.

The HSE Manager is responsible for the professional and operational guidance of the Project HSE Advisors to ensure a consistent approach to HSE management across the project packages.

 

Key Responsibilities & Activities

  • Ensure Seaway 7 Group vision, HSEQ strategies and Client requirement are understood and incorporated within all project activities.
  • Actively input to the development of the Business Unit HSE strategy and provide support to the Business Unit 1 HSE Manager to monitor and report HSE performance against strategy and targets.
  • Develop and lead project level improvement plans as required.
  • Provide technical input to the development, management, and implementation of project HSE documents.
  • Take the lead in project HSE reviews and project performance reporting including trending, and implementation of associated actions.
  • Lead project HSE surveillance programmes and assign resources to support delivery.
  • Maintain HSE resource planning with project and package managers to monitor deployment and utilisation of team.
  • Ensure suitable focus on the environment and project consent requirements across all project packages.
  • Provide recruitment support to maintain adequate HSE resource levels for the project.
  • Drive management and delivery of the HSE audit programme for the project. Liaise with the quality team, HSE Advisors and subcontractors to track progress and lead trending of findings to support continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the project emergency response exercise schedule and work with the HSE Advisors to ensure package and subcontractor inputs.
  • Actively support the Business Unit 1 HSE Manager with HSE input to Management Reviews and implementation of continuous improvement action as required.
  • Liaise with Quality, Supply Chain Management and Engineering to review HSE performance of key subcontractors and suppliers. Support with assessments and audits, and development of improvement plans as required.
  • Lead for HSE external audits including local authority and client audits.
  • Oversee project incident and near miss investigations, supporting and coaching the appointed team as required. Lead and participate in investigations as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Experienced HSE Professional. Degree level qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Chartered Member of Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) or working towards.
  • Relevant previous experience at an appropriate level in the renewables or wider energy industry including working knowledge of EPCI Projects and operations.
  • Strong technical background including HSE Risk Management and Management of Change.
  • Previous experience in managing and developing a team of HSE personnel.
  • Good organisational, negotiation, communication and report writing skills.
  • Proven incident investigation and management experience including root cause analysis.
  • Analytical and systematic in work with an enthusiastic approach to problem solving.
  • Current BOSIET / Offshore Medical/ GWO training is desirable.

Travel Requirements:

  • International travel and occasional visits to onshore and offshore worksites regionally with the possibility of short term stays.
