Senior Contracts Manager - AMEC

Location: Paris- France

Within Africa, Middle East & Caspian region (AMEC), we safely execute Subsea and Conventional projects which connect seabed wellhead infrastructures to surface facilities such as platforms and floating production systems. We are actively present in a significant number of countries in Africa, Europe, Caspian Sea, Middle East and Asia.

 

ROLE OVERVIEW:

Subsea 7 – AMEC Region currently has an opportunity for an experienced Contract Manager to join the team. The role includes strong interactions with the Operational teams and support to the day-to-day management of contractual activity for projects in the Region.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, as well as interpersonal and communication skills, autonomy and leadership to interact with the Client, Business Functions as appropriate, and Tendering and Project Teams.

Contract Management experience on complex projects is required.

 

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Commercial benefits and risk: Qualifying and making recommendations on main contract and purchase agreements to maximise commercial benefits and manage risk;
  • Substantiate Contractual entitlements: Creating and compiling evidence to substantiate contractual entitlements;
  • Change management: Applying change management principles and procedures for identifying and supporting contract change recoveries;
  • Contract obligations: Meeting contract requirements for ensuring all contract obligations to clients/Subsea 7/vendors are met
  • Understand and draft legal documents: Drafting in a legal / contractual context, preparation of contracts including NDA’s, Main Contract Flowdowns, Frame Agreements etc
  • Project correspondence; preparation of formal correspondence to clients and subcontractors/suppliers;
  • Contractual claims: Managing contractual and insurance claims handling process and associated claims quantification, presentation and settlement;
  • Financial and Tax awareness: Developing and maintaining understanding of commercial issues affecting Subsea 7; seeking financial and tax advice to mitigate exposure including structuring contractual relationships and drafting/qualifying contract clauses;
  • Liabilities/indemnities/warranties/MHHA: awareness and administration of liabilities and indemnity regimes, warranties and mutual hold harmless agreements ;
  • Guarantee, Bonds and Financing: providing advice with respect to parent company guarantees, bonds and financing, and assisting with related compliance initiatives;
  • Risk identification and management: Identifying and handling risks through insurance or avoidance by indemnity or waiver of liability, formulating and qualifying contractual provisions complying with our insurance covenants;
  • Insurances: Liaising with Insurance Department to arranging statutory insurance requirements applicable to Subsea 7
  • Stakeholder engagement: Engaging stakeholders to identify and resolve differences through negotiation to reach a mutually agreed solution;
  • Bidding, contracting and subcontracting, uphold bidding and contracting principles, subcontracting principles and associated deviation processes; Preparation of pre-subcontract documents
  • Understanding of Legal framework, with the support of Legal Department: for applying the legal framework governing all areas of Subsea 7's business, researching substantive law and providing analysis
  • Compliance: of Ensuring compliance with business ethics, Subsea 7's code of business conduct and anti-corruption laws;
  • Supervision and mentoring: supervision and training of junior team members as required, contribution to the sharing of lessons-learned, best practices and contracts awareness.
  • Subsea 7 and general industry awareness: Developing and maintaining awareness on organisational, competitive environment and key client awareness.

  • Operate within the Business Code of Conduct
  • Operate according to Subsea 7's Management Principles

 

REPORTING LINES

  • Functional reporting line to Legal & Contracts Director
  • Operational reporting line into Projects

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Degree qualified in areas such as Quantity Surveying, Business Management, Law and Engineering
  • Relevant previous experience at a Senior level in similar environment is required.

Continuing Professional Development:

Candidates should have an interest in the Energy or Offshore Construction field

Skills 

  • Native English Speaker (or fluency in English) is essential for this role
  • Rigorous organizational and communication skills are essential
  • Ability to identify and effectively prioritise workload and key issues of self and team within a dynamic work environment
  • Competency in Microsoft Office is essential.
  • Knowledge of the offshore, energy or construction industry would be advantageous
  • Experience of operating within an international arena will be a distinct advantage.
