About the job

We are looking for a Project Engineer to join our Heavy Transportation division, preferably with skills in naval architecture and marine engineering.

For this role, you will use your creativity and skills to plan projects and be at the centre of a team of experienced engineers specialized in marine operations.

Skills and Knowledge

Below are the required skills and knowledge in our preferred candidate:

  • Engineering skills: excellent understanding of hydrostatics, hydrodynamics, marine operations, technical drawings and vessel strength evaluation.
  • A Senior/Lead Naval Architect/Marine Engineer or a junior with a few years of experience.
  • Experience with float-on/float-off or roll-on/roll-off operations is an advantage.
  • Required Engineering Software skills:
    • Autodesk AutoCAD
    • Skilled in Microsoft Office
  • Competence in one or more of the following Standards and Engineering Software is an advantage:
    • DNV rules or other class rules related to marine operations
    • Autoship/Autoload or similar stability calculation software.
    • ABB Octopus or similar motion calculation software.
    • Autodesk Inventor
    • Visual Basic for Microsoft Office
    • Orcaflex
    • Other programming languages, like Python or C++
  • Personal skills:
    • Trustworthy and transparent.
    • Great time management skills.
    • Excellent team player and ability to communicate with the team.
    • Can work independently.
    • Fluent in English.
  • Computer skills above average, including:
    • All key Microsoft Office software: Outlook, Excel, Word.
    • Microsoft online ecosystem (Teams, Planner, SharePoint). 

Key Responsibilities & Activities

  • Production of:
    • Engineering studies and feasibility studies
    • Method statements
    • Transport manuals (a heavy transport engineering plan)
  • Engineering including
    • Stability calculation
    • Motion behaviour analysis
    • Marine operation analysis
    • Skidding and load transfer operation calculation
    • Strength evaluation of vessels
    • Time studies and operability
  • Ensure that the operations are planned in a way that maintains the safety of personnel as well as minimizes environmental impact.
  • Ensure adequate quality and efficiency in own work.
  • Operating discussion with the Heavy Transport Operation department.
  • Participating in technical meetings with clients
  • Participating in loading/discharging operations as and when required

 

Education

A higher technical education in marine technology and/or naval architecture or similar at MSc. Longer relevant working experience may replace education requirements partly.
