ROLE DESCRIPTION:

We have a new opportunity for a Technology Project Lead to join the business based in Aberdeen, UK. We are, however, willing to consider alternative locations for the right candidate. 

The focus of the position is to lead one of a number of technology projects within the strategic technology programme for offshore wind on the development of novel cost effective fixed offshore wind turbine foundations and related technologies.

The ideal candidate should have demonstrable experience of technology development and knowledge of the fixed offshore wind structure design.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Role Specific - Responsibilities & Activities

The key role is to provide leadership and management of one or more projects in the Strategic Technology Programme. This may mean working individually or managing a team of engineers depending on the workstream.

Experience in the design of offshore wind turbine foundations or related structures would be an advantage.

Understands clients' needs; identifies and addresses design parameters and problems; develops and implements solutions.

Liaise with those necessary to comply with the task.

Undertake responsibility for production of deliverables, which may include preparation and checking of design reports, design calculations, analyses, progress reports, study reports and various third party submissions.

Be able to present their work effectively to multi-disciplinary teams and in front of clients.

The selected candidate will have good commercial awareness and experience of producing Cost, Time & Resource plans for tenders & studies

KEY RELATIONSHIPS / STAKEHOLDERS

External

  • Clients for input to the technology programme, tenders and studies.
  • Engineering design houses, academic and research bodies.

Internal

  • Technology teams, Business Unit teams as well as business development and tendering.
  • Community of Experts in relevant engineering disciplines
  • Reporting to senior management as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

You must have the creativity, curiosity and interest to actively deliver the most elegant and cost-effective solution for the team and our clients. We are looking for a person who is innovative, yet rational and able to focus on workable solutions.

This role will be well suited to someone with project management or engineering management skills or aspirations to further develop those.

Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor and or Master’s Degree (Civil, Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent).
  • Membership of a relevant professional body.
  • Related experience at an appropriate level, including a period as Principal or Lead Engineer.
  • Candidates should show a commitment to Continuing Professional Development.
