OVERVIEW OF ROLE

A key leadership role with broad responsibility for the GPC&AP Cost and Finance project deliverables, including functional ownership of three teams to support the GPC&AP global portfolio of 10+ projects.

Manages and is responsible for the GPC&AP project execution financial function, ensuring collaboration and close engagement with key stakeholders across group accounting, cost management, treasury, audit and tax to meet the company and local entity business requirements.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manages and motivates project finance teams across seven global locations; reviews and assesses performance, builds employee capacity, supports professional development and enables employees to optimize their contribution to the Cost Control and Project Financial Accounting team.
  • Establish clear accountability, implement and oversee a detailed control framework to ensure robust control checkpoints are effective through the project life and financial reporting cycles.
  • Maintains constant alignment with Group cost control and accounting policies and procedures. Liaise with Corporate Finance to ensure alignment of principles with latest IFRS.
  • Provide timely, robust analysis, studies, modelling and recommendations on matters with potentially significant impact to Project financial performance (including but not limited to foreign exchange, cash-flow, commercial opportunities and risk).
  • Ensures compliance of GPC&AP project best practices with tender principles, liaising regularly with functional expertise (Tax and Treasury mainly).
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives to standardise & improve processes, reporting, controls and implement best practice.

 

Person Specification:

The Financial Controller - Project Execution shall have/be:

  • Proven track record in supporting Senior Leadership, with the ability to apply good judgement and decision making when deputising for Finance Director.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders, including Senior Leadership.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in Financial Accounting, Planning, Reporting & Analysis, Controlling (Cash Flow, Receivables, Supply Chain Management, Revenue Recognition etc.).
  • An analytical mindset, able to understand the commercial and operational side of the business and relate it to the financial performance and metrics that are being reported.
  • Committed to collaborative working, able to effectively organize and coordinate the activities of a team divided over multiple locations and proactively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strong planning and organising skills, accustomed to meeting multiple and often conflicting deadlines.
  • Team player with excellent networking capability, having a service oriented pro-active mindset.
  • Flexible to travel frequently across multiple locations
  • Pro-active and solutions-based, questioning mindset and desire to challenge the status quo.
  • Should demonstrate values, skills and behaviours that are consistent with Subsea 7’s core values.

 

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • Qualified accountant.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS reporting requirements and interpretation of new standards.
  • Oil and gas or marine industry experience is preferred, but not essential.
