DESCRIPTION OF ROLE

The role of the ROV Supervisor is to supervise the operation of the assigned ROV system and make sure that the ROV tasks defined in the work scope are performed in accordance with internal and external requirements.  They are also responsible for coordinating activities in co-operation with the Shift Supervisor and/or any specialist Equipment Supervisor onboard.

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices. This will include, but not be limited to:

 

  • Actively reporting all undesired events and safety observations using the Safety Observation system and Undesired Events Report system.
  • Actively reporting non-conformances using the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) system.
  • Actively reporting and managing any unsafe act, condition or procedure or environmental unsafe acts and conditions to the Chief Officer so that action can be taken to manage or minimize all risk.
  • All personnel are also expected to contribute to creating a culture of ethics and integrity within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to our Code of Conduct.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Generic Key Responsibilities & Activities

  • Provide liaison with the ROV Superintendent, Senior Surveyor and/or Inspection Representative (if applicable).
  • Participate in familiarization and debriefing sessions prior to mobilization/ demobilization (if applicable).
  • Familiarize the crew within the scope of work and other project related matters.
  • Participate in specific projects/work tasks as required.
  • Attend Company office / designated site to undertake preparation or repair work on assigned ROV system prior to and/or upon completion of offshore operations.
  • Ensure the ROV Operations are executed within the constraints of the Company's Operational and Safety Procedures.
  • Preparation of Task Plans where there is no onsite Project Engineer.
  • The instigation and co-ordination of Risk assessments and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) reviews relating to the ROV Systems under their control, including the compilation of Risk Assessments/FMEA reports. Periodic review of such reports to ensure their accuracy and status.
  • Liaise with ROV Superintendent / Support Coordinator on all ROV-system related issues.
  • Briefing the Client's representative fully on the operational capability and limitations of the relevant ROV and associated equipment.
  • Undertake all Performance Management Review (PMRs) for all direct reports.

AUTHORITY/DIMENSIONS

  • Operate within the Code of Conduct
  • Operate according to Subsea 7's Management Principles
  • Work within the parameters of responsibility outlined for the vessel in the Vessel Authority Matrix
  • Support standards and procedures for the ROV Function

KEY QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of valid IMCA (or equivalent) ROV Certificate necessary for the specific geographical area of work
  • Minimum College-level qualification in Electrical / Mechanical / Electronic / Hydraulics Engineering or equivalent
  • Comprehensive understanding of Subsea Operations
  • Minimum 180 days experience as ROV Submersible Engineer
  • IMCA logbook with appropriate entries and satisfactorily completed company assessments.
  • Valid offshore medical suitable for geographical area of work
  • Valid offshore survival suitable for geographical area of work
  • Attendance at PASS School induction and other company familiarization prior to mobilization
  • Compliance with the Subsea 7 Competence Assurance Assessment Program (CAAP)
