The BMS provides procedures for developing the detailed design and engineering by internal resources and (possibly) external subcontractors. In most cases, the Design Basis is provided by the Customer. If this is not the case, a Design Basis shall be drafted and agreed with the Customer.

It is noted that SOC does not design any Permanent Materials inhouse (f.e. power cable, cable protection system, cable hang offs etc). For these materials, design is being subcontracted to the manufacturers of those materials. The project team shall however always check the design either by inhouse resources or seek third party assistance.

The Engineering Support will address the design and engineering of all Permanent Materials, services, systems and infrastructure. The installation procedures/deliverables shall be submitted to Customer to obtain “Released for Construction” (RfC) status to provide documentation for procurement/start of production of Permanent Materials and ensure suitable installation procedures of those Permanent Materials for execution, erection, pre-commissioning/testing, and commissioning support. In case, Customer provides materials/equipment Free-Issue, the suitability for installation / operation shall be checked as part of the Engineering Support.

During design execution, close coordination is required between the engineering subcontractors and the procurement team.

The OPS team shall be involved in the project in the early stages, optimizing the design effort by aligning it with the overall strategy regarding installation methodology, consumables etc, and prior to detailing the installation procedures.

The Main Contract includes SOC scope items, Customer scope items, assumptions and clarifications, and battery limit interfaces. The Main Contract includes a written description of the project, including a summarization of the physical aspects of the project, a definition of the project battery limits, a listing of project scope inclusions, exclusions, assumptions, and clarifications. It also includes information on the site conditions, division of responsibilities between the Customer and SOC, project milestones, list of deliverables, and third-party interfaces associated with the work. As such, assigned engineers shall familiarize themselves with the Main Contract’s Scope of Work.

The Engineering Support includes calculations, design, drawings, specifications and other documents required to define the design and engineering work to be accomplished for this project. In addition, the Project Team shall raise and register Technical Questions (TQ) to Customer and Suppliers in case of ambiguity, missing information etc.
