POSITION OVERVIEW

Due to the expanding portfolio of activities across the Group an exciting opportunity has arisen in the Corporate Finance Team in the role of Associate Accountant within the Corporate finance team. Based in our Westhill office, the position offers a diverse and challenging role, within a professional and process improvement driven team, with excellent learning opportunities and good prospects for progression. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a logical approach to problem solving.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The role will support the following parts of the Corporate Finance Team

External Reporting and Technical Accounting:

  • Assist in the preparation of the reporting of the Group’s interim results and Group’s Annual Report and Consolidated Financial Statements with primary responsibility for certain disclosure notes.
  • Assist in the preparation of reconciliations and analysis of the Group results on a monthly basis.
  • Assist in the preparation of the specific tasks such as the annual impairment reviews and valuations exercise of statutory entities.
  • Support the Senior Accountant in the research and interpretation of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs), including the impacts of new IFRSs on the Group
  • Liaise with external auditors to support the audit of the Group’s results.

Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Support the team during the monthly forecasting process, including preparation of the Group monthly forecast with primary responsibility for certain deliverables.
  • Assist in the preparation of reconciliations and analysis on key aspects of the Group Income Statement, including projects, vessels, cost base and headcount, working collaboratively with Regional Finance teams.
  • Support the team in compliance with the quarterly and annual reporting requirements to ensure Group reporting objectives and timeline are adhered to and deliver quality outputs on time.
  • Support the team during the Group Annual Budget and 5 Year Plan processes, and actively participate in the timely preparation and presentation of key deliverables. This includes pro-active collaboration with key stakeholders, contribution to discussions/reviews, preparation of analysis and preparation of Key Performance Indicators analysis.

General:

  • Demonstrate a general understanding of Accounting Standards, principles, and Group accounting policies to ensure they are applied and upheld.
  • Assist in the preparation of documentation related to procedures, processes, and accounting policies to be included in the Group’s Business Management System.
  • Identify and/or pro-active involvement in Team’s process improvement opportunities to help establish best practice, standardisation, and ways of working.
  • Focus on high level of service provided to stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the Group’s finance community to resolve queries in a timely and effective manner.
  • Other ad hoc tasks and projects as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications and Education

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant stream (Finance/Accounting) (Desirable)
  • Already pursuing and/or a willingness to pursue a recognised Professional Accountancy Qualification (Desirable)
  • A good working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (Desirable)

Experience

  • Proven track record of good quality accurate analysis and analytical review (Essential)
  • Relevant experience working within a similar environment (Desirable)

IT Systems

  • Working knowledge of SAP (Desirable)
  • Ability to work with Excel (Essential), Word (Desirable) and PowerPoint (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of Business Objects Financial Consolidation (BFC) (Desirable)
