OVERVIEW OF ROLE

Subsea 7 uses a wide range of Engineering Applications in support of the delivery of large-scale subsea projects to our clients. These include CAD and engineering analysis design tools like Autodesk Vault and products, Orcaflex, Ansys and MathCAD though experience in these is not essential.

The role is to provide a second level support to an extensive range of applications, liaising with the software providers for fixes and upgrades where required. A key element of the role is to coordinate the allocation of Level 2 service incidents and requests across the IT Teams, working in liaison with our Service Desk partner.

The role of Engineering Applications Analyst is part of a friendly and dynamic IT Team that has a global remit. We support each other to deliver several hundred projects per year across a variety of disciplines.

This role can be based at either our Westhill, Aberdeen or Sutton, London office or remote and will be offered on a contract basis for an initial period of 6 month.

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.

 

Specific Key Responsibilities & Activities

  • Administration of Support Incidents logged in the Service Management application
  • Provide Level-2 Support for the allocated applications
  • Work with engineering teams to support first installation and configuration including documenting work instructions
  • Co-ordinate testing of all configuration changes made to applications and the supporting IT infrastructure
  • Propose improvements to applications to meet business objectives.
  • Support application users via a network of super users
  • Maintain the integrity of the development, test and production environments associated with each application
  • Participate in system audits and manage regular system monitoring

 

Person Specification

  • Strong problem-solving capability (Essential)
  • Experience in application support including incident and change management (Essential)
  • Experience in creation and maintenance of documentation, e.g. technical/development specifications, Configuration rationale, Test cases (Essential)
  • Good understanding of the underlying IT infrastructure required to support and enable effective use of software applications. Key skill areas could include Microsoft Windows Server, Windows desktop, application packaging and deployment, multi-tier application configuration (web, application and database servers), Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Professional qualifications: candidate should be qualified in IT, or have equivalent work experience (Advantageous)
  • Customer focussed service delivery skills, based on ITIL standards. (ITIL advantageous but not essential)
  • Familiarity with Agile development (Advantageous)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good organisational skills and smart working methods
  • Presents self in a professional manner and works well under pressure
