Subsea 7 is looking for candidates with 3-10 years of relevant experience to join our Hydrodynamics Discipline in Central Engineering in Stavanger.

As a member of the Hydrodynamics Discipline, you will be involved in the planning, optimization and execution of our marine operations by performing simulations of these operations. The simulations are essential to identify the best possible solutions and methods, and to ensure that our operations are executed in a safe manner while maintaining a high operability with optimized weather limitations.

You will also be responsible for performing hydrodynamic analysis related to optimal design of subsea products with respect to both in-place function and installation criteria.

Key responsibilities:

  • The responsibilities of the discipline are technical support and hydrodynamic analysis related to the design and installation of subsea structures, flexible flowlines, umbilicals and cables
  • The engineer will be involved in anything from early phase studies through to detailed engineering and follow-up in the execution phase

Capability profile / Qualifications:

  • Master degree or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline (marine/offshore/ocean technology, naval architecture)
  • 3-10 years of experience within hydrodynamics, marine operations and wave statistics
  • Knowledge and experience using any of the software OrcaFlex, SIMO/SIMA, HydroD and Ansys CFD is an advantage
  • Programming skills (Python) is an advantage
  • Overview and understanding of applicable design codes, industry standards and legislative requirements
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Creative problem solving - able to suggest and develop new methods and ways of working 
  • The ability to work in a team, as well as individually with minimum supervision
  • The ability to organize and prioritize own work
  • Understanding of clients’ needs and ability to suggest and apply “fit for purpose” solutions 
  • Sound communication skills – able to communicate ideas and results to various stakeholders, both in written reports and in meetings, presentations etc.

The position is based in Stavanger, however an office location in Oslo may be discussed in special cases.
