Subsea 7 needs to increase the engineering capacity with focus on material, corrosion and coating engineering and is looking for an experienced material engineer and a coating engineer to be part of Material & Corrosion Team based in the Stavanger office.

Key Responsibilities

Material Engineer:

  • Provide materials, corrosion and welding support to projects, tenders, studies, technology development projects and other disciplines within Subsea 7
  • Perform material selection and develop material selection report
  • Provide input and support to studies, tenders and projects on materials procurement and manufacturing
  • Ensure technical compliance for procurement and manufacturing and take part in technical discussions with supplier and client
  • Support supply chain management in request for quotation (RFQ) process for linepipe, components and assemblies. This includes preparing technical scope of works, critical path identification, technical bid review and clarifications
  • Be technical responsible for procurement packages
  • Participate in manufacturers testing and qualification activities
  • Interface with other stakeholders including, Subsea 7’s Pipeline Group (PG), members of pipeline materials team, quality department, project teams, clients, suppliers etc.
  • Perform role according to Subsea 7’s policies, procedures, and systems

Corrosion/Coating Engineer:

  • Provide technical support to projects, tenders, studies and other disciplines within Subsea 7 with regards to coating and external corrosion issues
  • Perform cathodic protection assessments and develop cathodic protection reports
  • Provide input and support to studies, tenders and projects on materials procurement and manufacturing
  • Ensure technical compliance for procurement and manufacturing and take part in technical discussions with supplier and client
  • Support supply chain management in request for quotation (RFQ) process for coating of linepipe, spools and structures. This includes preparing technical scope of works, critical path identification, technical bid review and clarifications
  • Be technical responsible for coating procurement packages
  • Participate in manufacturers testing and qualification activities
  • Interface with other stakeholders including, Subsea 7’s Pipeline Group (PG), members of materials & fabrication team, quality department, project teams, clients, suppliers etc.
  • Perform role according to Company policies, procedures, and systems

Qualifications

Material Engineer:

  • Master’s degree in Materials Technology
  • Minimum 5 years relevant work experience
  • Good knowledge of subsea materials and welding codes and standards
  • Good knowledge and experience on corrosion mechanisms and assessment of corrosion susceptibility for different materials
  • Possess technical knowledge within manufacturing of linepipe, components and assemblies
  • Experience from subsea materials engineering
  • Experience with relevant corrosion rate calculation tools (Norsok M-506, ECE 5)
  • General knowledge of project management and project administration
  • General computer knowledge (e.g. word, excel, power point, time recording)

Corrosion/Coating Engineer:

  • Bachelor/Master degree in Chemistry, Chemical or Material technology
  • Minimum 5 years relevant work experience
  • General understanding of Polymer/Plastic manufacturing processes
  • Ability to decipher industry standards and Operators Specifications
  • Experience with working on multiple projects and to collaborate with stakeholders
  • General knowledge of project management and project administration
  • General computer knowledge (e.g. word, excel, power point, time recording)
