Subsea 7 has an opportunity for an experienced Offshore Geotechnical Engineer to be part of the specialist geotechnical discipline within the Subsea 7 Stavanger office. The applicant shall have relevant offshore geotechnical competence, have experience in managing and supervising junior geotechnical engineers and check geotechnical work.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Complete geotechnical engineering aspects of tenders, studies and projects, with support from senior team members, for the Oil & Gas and Renewable markets
  • Manage and supervise junior geotechnical engineers on various project
  • Evaluate the quality of available site investigation data for tenders, studies and projects, and be capable of specifying and supervising site investigations when needed
  • Interpret and use offshore site investigation data and be able to integrate results into parameters for detailed design of subsea infrastructure
  • Undertake detailed design and installation of gravity based, piled & suction installed foundations and evaluate/recommend reeled-pipe-lay initiation anchorage
  • Use of 2D and 3D finite element software (Plaxis) for analysis and design of complex soil-structure interaction problems
  • Carry out soil/pipeline interaction analyses, and support the associated engineering disciplines for pipeline & umbilical installation analyses, stability analyses, buckling and walking assessments
  • Complete offshore trenching and rock dumping assessments
  • Be able to present their work effectively to multi-disciplinary teams and in front of clients
  • The selected candidate will have good commercial awareness and experience of producing Cost, Time & Resource plans for tenders & studies
  • The selected candidate will report to the Discipline manager and be part of a successful multi-cultural and international team

Capability profile / Qualifications:

  • Master degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering with specialization in Geotechnical Engineering
  • 5-15 years of relevant working experience as an Offshore Geotechnical Engineer
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding and experience of offshore site investigations, foundation design, pipeline / soil interaction & pipeline mechanical protection aspects
  • Good knowledge of codes and standards within the field of Offshore Geotechnical Engineering
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Creative problem solving - able to suggest and develop new methods and ways of working
  • Understanding of clients’ needs and ability to suggest and apply “fit for purpose” solutions
  • Sound communication skills – able to communicate ideas and results to various stakeholders
  • The ability to work in a team as well as individually with a minimum of supervision

The position is based in Stavanger.
