JOB TITLE: Graduate Engineer

REPORTS TO: Deputy Engineering Manager D&A

GEDS (Graduate Engineer Development Scheme) is our industry-leading and award-winning two-year graduate training scheme which has been developed and continually supported by experts from engineering and other core functions. Graduates are significant to the progression of our engineering capabilities.

With this programme you can expect off-the-job training, on-the-job development, mentoring and self-development.

Under supervision a Graduate Engineer assists more senior engineers to produce detailed engineering relevant to his/her area of specialization. The work scope may include supporting studies and tenders as well as live projects.

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under direct supervision, assist with work you're doing, which may include engineering support to Drawing Office, design calculations, analysis, reports, specifications, procedures, progress reports, bid evaluations, study reports and various 3rd-party submissions.
  • Consolidate knowledge in areas of discipline engineering, including design codes and standards, legislative requirements and current best engineering practice.
  • Awareness of clients' needs; address design parameters and problems; develop and implement solutions.
  • Assist in the production of technical documentation.
  • Make effort to become aware of all meaningful safety objectives and legal requirements.
  • Participate in meetings/correspondence with Clients, subcontractors, 3rd parties, etc in a junior capacity.
  • Recognise the objectives for professional development and strive to achieve development goals.
  • Commit to Subsea7 values and work according to the Business Management System and good work practices.
  • Adheres to the training requirements of the GEDS
  • Additional responsibilities/activities specific to the appropriate Engineering Centre may be added as applicable. For example:
  • Participate in offshore assignments as required by project placement.
  • Accept increasing responsibility as more experience is gained
  • Actively seek and execute challenging work tasks
  • Originate documents such as analysis reports, procedures, drawings, Change Control Forms, Dive plans etc.
  • Act as company representative at such events as load tests, trial fit-ups etc.
  • Carry out other duties of a Professional Engineer under the supervision and/or approval of a more senior Engineer.
  • Prepare and present, Task Risk Assessments, HAZOPs etc. when assigned
  • Prepare procedures and other documents to satisfy company and industry Health and Safety Standards.

 

OUR GRADUATES:

Our graduates (with no more than 2 years of experience) typically have one of the following degrees:

  • Civil - Geotechnical Engineering
  • Materials/Metallurgical Engineering

  • Manage change control within own remit on a project. Inform team members where constraints will affect a project in terms of programme or budget
  • Can work within time/budget constraints
  • A current level of English is required
