Fabrication Manager - AMEC

Location : Paris- France

 

OVERVIEW OF ROLE

 

As part of the AMEC Operations support team, the Fabrication Manager is accountable to support regional business activities with a strong fabrication expertise.

The Fabrication Managerwould be primarily responsible to develop and propose the adequate fabrication strategy during the Tender Preparation stage  and to provide any required support to the fabrication matters, liaising with the fabrication subcontractors and / or partners and also interfacing with Project Management, Sales & Marketing, Engineering and SCM.  

The Fabrication Manager would be responsible for the delivery of the Subsea 7’s technical and commercial fabrication package (s) from receipt of the Invitation to Tender until the project handover and may provide support to the execution stage and the different interfaces with the project execution team and the yards.

The Fabrication Manager will also provide support to the Joint Venture Fabrication yards as part of AMEC Region for tendering activities as well as interfacing with yard Managers and Fabrication Managers.

The Fabrication Manager would be responsible to consolidate relevant Fabrication Information, Databases, Productivity Ratios, Benchmarks and Subcontractors performance alongside region activity and may lead a pool of Fabrication Engineers within the regional organization.

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices and also to the Subsea 7 Core Values.

 

Specific Key Responsibilities & Activities

 

The Fabrication Lead main responsibilities are:

  • Act as key focal point within region organisation for fabrication expertise,
  • Support AMEC fabrication headcount and recruitment process for projects and yards,
  • Follow-up of specific internal yards such as Sonamet and Belmet 7,
  • Participate in the selection of subcontractors and in the preparation and negotiation of the fabrication subcontracts,
  • Ensure that all technical aspects have been reviewed and incorporated within the proposal and contract during the tendering phase,
  • Coordinate with Engineering (Fabrication drawings, fabrication SOW, etc), Joint Venture Fabrication Yards (when applicable) and SCM (Fabricator appraisal) for any aspect related to the fabrication sub-contract (s) and subcontractor (s)
  • Coordinate with Yard Team and Site Fabrication Manager to assist them in managing Tender/Project fabrication packages (including fabrication manhours estimation, planning and other technical support).
  • Liaise with the fabrication subcontractors and ensure compliance of all subcontract requirements, in terms of Fabrication, HSES, QA and QC, schedule, cost, documentation and reporting,
  • Support interfaces between Company, Fabrication Yard and Subcontractor for fabrication activities, testing and load out operations
  • Maintain good communications with Company and with fabrication subcontractor or yard. Set up meetings when required. Must create a positive “team spirit”
  • Coordinate and follow-up with Subsea 7’s Vendors and other subcontractors for intervention on fabrication site
  • Contribute in creating and managing a positive HSE culture within Subsea 7, and ensure fabrication subcontractor’s adhesion and implementation
  • Ensure that Quality Management Requirements are understood and implemented by the Fabrication Yards and Subcontractors.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to yard/fabrication facilities performance (Lesson Learned, Risk & Opportunities, Reporting)
  • Lead and mentor other junior elements from Fabrication Support team.

  • The Fabrication Manager reports to the Regional Operations Manager.

 

KEY RELATIONSHIPS/ STAKEHOLDERS

 

External:

  • Client and Partners,
  • Subcontractors or Suppliers, including external fabrication yards,
  • Third party and Certifying Authorities

 

Internal:

  • All departments included in the process of pre-qualifying and bidding,
  • All fabrication yards within Subsea 7 AMEC Region.

 

ORGANISATION STRUCTURE

 

  • Work will be based in the Subsea 7 Suresnes Office with regular mission in Africa and Middle- East Countries where the projects take place,
  • Standard working hours but occasionally will be expected to work extended hours to meet critical deadlines especially during tender phase.

CAPABILITY PROFILE-KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND BEHAVIOURS

 

  • Engineering Degree associated with Mechanical, Civil, Offshore or Marine disciplines,
  • Experience in project management, Construction and Fabrication (minimum 10 to 15 years of experience),
  • Capability to work with personnel in remote locations such as Middle-East, West Africa
  • Team worker and good leadership,
  • Good willingness and reactivity to respond to Clients,
  • Fluent in English Language.
