Who are we looking for?

Due to continued growth and internal moves we 7 have a requirement for a Stress Analysis / FEA Engineer to work in our Pipeline Group based in Sutton, London office. We are looking for an Engineer with experience on Non-Linear Analyses problem in FEA and Contact FEA modelling, and you should have a strong background on FEA, Solid modelling and Abaqus (or similar) and preferably non-linear material modelling. If you have a strong programming background with Python on Abaqus, this would be advantageous.

The role is suited for all levels of experience, from recent MSc or PhD graduates to experienced engineers.

What does the role involve?

Duties of the Stress Analysis / FEA Engineer can involve but are not limited to:

  • Performs advanced FE analyses to support our engineering activities and in particular the operation of our reel lay  vessels 7Vega, 7Oceans and 7Navica.
  • Design 3D solid in-line pipe components, pipelines and other pressure equipment under high mechanical, thermal and pressure loads
  • Predict vessel settings for reeling of subsea pipelines
  • Understand and perform structural reliability assessments
  • Provides support to offshore reeling operations
  • Participates actively to engineers training and development
  • Participates actively to the PG department know-how consolidation
  • Proposes innovative solutions allowing cost & risks reduction

What do you need to have?

  • Previous experience in a similar role, and similar type of work on FEA focused on complex mechanical behaviour and contact analysis
  • A PhD in an associated topic is an advantage and will be equivalent to experience in a similar role
  • Previous experience working with Abaqus and Python is highly desirable
