We have an exciting opportunity for a Tendering Specialist to join our UK & Global IRM Sales and Marketing Team based at our Merchants Way campus. Reporting to a Senior Tender Manager, the position involves the preparation, writing, coordination and negotiation of tenders, including cost estimation, commercial, contract and risk reviews in support of Subsea 7’s Inspection, Repair, and Maintenance (IRM) business.

The role will present an opportunity to the right individual to gain commercial experience and exposure to a variety of clients, internal functions and Subsea 7 Senior Management. With hands on experience with estimating and in tendering process, the individual will be involved with most facets of the Region’s business to include vessel based IRM and Renewables support services, sale of products, rental of equipment, and offshore personnel services.

Working under the direction of a Tender Manager and with Project Managers, they will be responsible for assisting, managing, leading and developing tenders for a variety of OPEX, CAPEX and ABEX scopes, developing value relationships with internal project and client stakeholders. The opportunity is ideally suited to someone with a foundation in another, ideally complimentary discipline, who wants to augment that experience with the hard and soft skills training available within Sales and Marketing.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Preparation of pre-qualifications and tenders in accordance with the Business Management System (BMS) / Tendering Processes.
  • Involvement at all stages of tender preparation for potential Oil/Gas and Renewable Developments from Early Engagement through to Late Life interventions, as well as Decommissioning Projects
  • Prepare accurate and economic costing of tenders with due regard to competitor positions, supply chain and market trends.
  • Organize the workload of the tender team to achieve tender completion on time in order that the necessary approvals are obtained prior to submission to clients.
  • Utilise the tools available to ensure stakeholders are kept appraised of tender status e.g. Client 365.
  • Liaison with Corporate and Regional Sales & Marketing functions to ensure commonality of approach and cross learning.
  • Liaison with legal, tax, project operations, engineering, vessel support teams and ship operations to obtain their input throughout the life of the tender.
  • Preparation of internal tender authorization papers, presentations and documents which may include presenting or supporting presentations to Senior Management
  • Development of winning bid documentation for submission to Clients
  • Assist in the negotiation of terms and conditions of tenders with clients to achieve the best commercial, technical and contractual position.
  • Maintain appropriate records, data and cost estimation information during the tender process to ensure an efficient handover to project teams and for internal/external auditing.
  • Receive functional guidance, direction and advice from the Tender Manager and Senior Tender Manager.

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Qualifications & Education:

  • Degree qualified, or similar, preferably in a Business or Commercial/Contractual subject.
  • Consideration will be given to applicants with related work experience in an associated background.
  • Produces work that is consistent, high quality and accurate.
  • Ability to demonstrate and / or show willingness to develop themselves as appropriate to the job role

Skills:

  • Good negotiation skills and ability to articulate views in a comprehensive and concise manner.
  • Estimating skills with background in use of estimating software preferred, but not essential.
  • Ability to share learning and experience with others to promote continuous improvement and knowledge transfer within the organization
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, both in verbal and written form.
  • Some ability to review and qualify contracts.
  • Presents self in a professional manner appropriate to the role.
  • Good organizational skills and smart working methods. Ability to prioritize own workload and that of tender team where appropriate.
  • Self-starting individual capable of working without direct supervision and able to solve problems using their own initiative.
  • Competent in use of MS Office suite of packages

Experience:

  • Previous experience in an Offshore Oil and Gas tendering / proposals environment preferred but not essential
  • Previous experience in client-facing environment
  • Previous experience of working to tight deadlines without compromising on quality of proposal deliverables.

 

Specific Job Related Requirements

  • The position is based onshore within an office environment (Merchants Way, Katy, Texas). However, candidates may be required to undertake some travel due to the Global nature of our business.
