JOB TITLE:  VESSEL MANAGER (Charter Vessels)
REPORTS TO: FLEET MANAGER

LOCATION: HOUSTON

        
1.    POSITION OVERVIEW

The Vessel Manager (Charter Vessels) must be able to function in a managerial capacity relevant to the daily technical and administrative matters associated with managing vessels owners to provide efficient running of their vessel(s). This is a vessel management position and as such the job holder is accountable for the achievement of organizational objectives as well as individual project objectives via a close / collaborative working relationship with the ship owners. The job holder is instrumental to drive the Subsea 7 cultures on charter vessels under his/her jurisdiction; including all mobile/ temporary equipment installed onboard (with support from specialist personnel as necessary).

2.    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES 
    
•    Develop and maintain strong working collaborative relationships between ship owner and Subsea 7.
•    Develop the reporting system in place between the ship owner(s) and Subsea 7
•    Monitor Safety and Pollution prevention operations and advise vessel owners accordingly in line with Subsea 7 policies.
•    Work within budget constraints for the efficient / safe operation of vessels.
•    Develop and administer reliable budget forecasts against the approved budget plan.
•    Implement collaborative approaches to ensure company policies and ship owner policies are delivered.
•    Maintain accurate records of all vessel(s) activities, communications and technical dossiers.
•    Point of contact for HSEQ and Technical matters related to the vessels.
•    Liaise with clients and vessel(s) owners regarding operational matters.
•    Liaise with Project and Operations to establish requirements and provide assistance if possible. 
•    Liaise with OR F&E departmental managers to co-ordinate equipment support/ deliverables and assurance.
•    Promote the use of the company Business Management System and provide guidance to ship owners.
•    Ensure suitable technical preparations are completed for technical stops.
•    Coordinate ISM audits as well as LOLER and PUWER compliance audits alongside / in support of ship owner where required.
•    Review and Compilation of vessel operating manuals.
•    Interface with Sales & Marketing Department to provide assistance with bids etc.
•    In charge of coordinating the mobilization of vessel joining the fleet following the applicable procedures and good practices.
•    Oversight and ensuring IT network onboard, set up, equipment and Vessel communications remain fit for purpose and  coordinating of additional services when required. 
•    Coordinate the  year ahead outlook for Maintenance, Regulatory, Class and Third part Inspections,  in coordination with the Owners,  for planning and the  inclusion in the vessel schedule. Follow inspection and maintenance execution on the vessels.
•    Supervise the Vessel Assurance processes and related matters on board the vessel. Responsible for Technical information on the vessel in the different areas under his/her supervision
•    Stay updated with Rules, Regulation, and Industry practices.
•    Responsible for the vessel general performance and provide Owners the vessel performance feedback to the Owners.

•    An excellent communicator with a range of interpersonal skills; comfortable in the day-to-day management of ship owners.
•    Capable of thinking ahead and anticipating vessel(s) requirements.
•    Sufficient maritime and managerial experience to provide a level of confidence within the ranks of the marine crew.
•    Knowledge of shipboard organizations, marine management, and offshore operations.

7.    PERSON SPECIFICATION

Preferred Experience and Education 
•    Engineering degree or other relevant higher education
•    Relevant management training
•    Educated to degree level in a marine engineering discipline.
•    Master Mariner or Chief Engineer

•    An excellent communicator with a range of interpersonal skills.
•    Commercial awareness / knowledge (preferred) 
•    Capable of thinking ahead and anticipating vessel(s) 7 project requirements.
•    Sufficient maritime and managerial experience to provide a level of confidence within the ranks of the marine crew and external specialists.
•    Able to implement budgetary controls in order to achieve cost targets.
•    Sufficient technical knowledge to contribute towards the resolution of marine technical problems.
