Seaway 7 have an opportunity for a Principal / Lead Project Engineer to join their Project team on a full time staff basis, based in our Westhill, Aberdeen office.

Reporting to the Engineering Director, the Principal / Lead Project Engineer provides engineering and technical expertise to the project team. The requirement is to work as part of the EPCI Design Team in the management of a Designer in the delivery of a certified design of an offshore wind farm project.

The role also involves interface management, both internally between packages and externally towards the Client and Subcontractors. Work may also include supporting tenders across the Renewables Business Unit. 

The role is onshore based but may also require travel to site, including offshore, therefore there is a requirement to go offshore with this position. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES

  • Review project documentation and ensure compliance of design with contract requirements and compliance of fabrication and installation packages with design parameters.
  • Monitors the Designer in the production of deliverables to meet the Contract Schedule.
  • Interfaces internally with other packages within the project in terms of design requirements for fabrication and installation activities.
  • Interfaces externally with the Client, Client’s Subcontractors including Independent Verification Body and Wind Turbine Supplier.
  • Overall management of the Technical Query System between the Client and Subcontractors. Provide support to Document Control on the administration of interfaces. Resolve and expedite technical queries where required. Also provide system training of subcontractors where necessary.
  • Takes the lead on Operation and Maintenance deliverables for the project, including strategy recommendations to the Client.
  • Assist the Package Manager with identifying and implementing design refinements to achieve a more optimized design.
  • Assist the Package Manager with commercial review and budget management.
  • Under limited supervision, independently evaluate, organise and prioritise work within the project team.

 PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Sound communication skills, oral, written and electronic.
  • Able to prioritise own and others’ workload, manage time and change control accordingly and direct team members where constraints will affect a project in terms of programme or budget.
  • Able to manage interfaces within a project structure, including other disciplines, document control, project management, client and suppliers.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information and confronts difficult situations in a constructive way
  • Demonstrates integrity, can be trusted to keep commitments, and is direct and honest in all interactions.
  • Actively contributes to the decision-making process and supports the team’s final decision (consensus).
  • Commitment to Continuing Professional Development.
  • Able to guide and mentor graduates and junior engineers.

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • It is desirable for candidates to already be at Principal Engineer level with an interest in working in the Offshore Renewables Sector
  • Offshore medical and survival certificates are required
  • Offshore wind industry training (GWO) will be provided
