POSITION OVERVIEW

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Deputy Vessel Manager (DVM) - Chartered Vessels.

Working closely with, and for, the Vessel Manager (VM) the DVM will support daily technical and administrative matters associated with managing Vessels Owners to provide the efficient running of their chartered vessel(s).

In addition, the role is responsible for supporting the VM in the achievement of organisational and individual project objectives.

The DVM is instrumental in driving the Subsea 7 culture on chartered vessels under their jurisdiction, including all mobile / temporary equipment installed onboard (specialist personnel support will be utilised, as required).

The successful applicant will be required to undertake occasional travel to vessels.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Maintain an excellent collaborative relationship with vessel owners (VO), developing an agreed reporting system and ensuring Subsea 7 and VO policies are delivered.
  • Effectively manages the day to day relationships with Vos and Offshore Management Teams, resolving any issues arising.
  • Monitor Safety and Pollution prevention operations and advise VOs accordingly in line with Subsea 7 policies.
  • Work within budget constraints for the efficient / safe operation of vessels.
  • Develop and manage reliable budget forecasts against the approved budget plan.
  • Maintain accurate records of all vessel(s) activities, communications and technical dossiers.
  • Liaise with clients and VOs regarding operational matters.
  • Liaise with Project and Operations to establish requirements and provide assistance if possible.
  • Liaise with Subsea 7 departmental managers to co-ordinate equipment support / deliverables and assurance.
  • Promote the use of the company Business Management System and provide guidance to VOs.
  • Ensure suitable technical preparations are completed for technical stops.
  • Coordinate ISM audits as well as LOLER and PUWER compliance audits alongside / in support of VO, as required.
  • Compile, review and update vessel operating manuals.
  • Interface with Sales & Marketing Department to provide assistance with Tenders, etc.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • Engineering degree or other relevant higher education in a Maritime subject.
  • Naval Architect, Marine Engineer, Chief Engineer Unlimited CoC, with time in rank preferred or other Engineering Degree. Relevant Vessel and/or Energy industry experience may be considered.
  • Vessels servicing the Energy Industry; Light Construction, DSV or IRM vessel experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of vessels’ capability and operating limits.
  • Knowledge of IMO, Class & Flag and ISM requirements.
  • Knowledge of engineering and operations of offshore construction
  • Other relevant Maritime or Energy industry experience will be considered

  • Ability to work under pressure and successfully meet multiple, often competing deadlines.

  • Flexible to adapt to changing priorities within a fast-paced 24/7 global business.
  • Demonstrates initiative and ownership to deliver workload unsupervised while flexible to support wider team activities.
  • Committed to continuous improvement and identification of efficient work methods and processes.
  • Numeric and analytical, able to implement budgetary controls to achieve cost targets.
  • Commercial awareness / knowledge (preferred).
