Who we are looking for?

Due to our continued growth, Subsea 7 have an exciting permanent staff opportunity for a Product Engineer Level II.  The role will be based out of our Old Kilpatrick offices in Glasgow, but with flexible working options available.  There may also be some travel required to other sites, client bases, etc.  

The Internal Pipeline Corrosion Management product team are responsible for providing technical input and guidance in the delivery of commercial projects, product improvement projects and technology development projects in the most effective and technically appropriate way.  Initially, the successful candidates will be focussed on polymer lining products, but the roles may develop further to include other metallic pipeline solutions.

Whilst these roles will be focussed initially on polymer lining technology and previous experience of this would be highly beneficial, it is not essential for candidates to have this as full training and support will be provided.

What does the role involve?

Duties of the Product Engineers can involve but are not limited to:

  • Provide engineering designs, calculations and support for polymer lining products used on commercial projects.
  • Perform internal departmental auditing of predicted design outputs and process performance, developing and implementing continuous improvement actions in line with findings.
  • Supports early engagement activities on commercial projects (pre-contract award) by providing product technical input
  • Collates relevant commercial project information with aim of creating, maintaining and distributing product track records.
  • Liaises with project teams to ensure commercial project lessons learned are collated, communicated, actioned and closed out.
  • Support Business Development and Commercial Departments during early engagement activities and the preparation of tender submissions and negotiations.
  • Manage small to medium sized product improvement and technology development projects whilst managing risk and maintaining pre-determined schedules and budgets.
  • Design, test and evaluate theoretical designs using engineering principles and techniques.
  • Identify and/ or define suitable testing for polymer products and subsequently complete analysis and reporting of test results.
  • Publish and present technical papers or participate in client facing presentations to support the product teams’ efforts to promote its products and secure new commercial work.

What do you need to have?

  • You will be degree qualified in a relevant subject, ideally polymer based
  • You will have demonstrable relevant experience in an engineering role
  • Ideally you will have a good understanding of polymer materials and associated properties and a working knowledge of product development processes would also be advantageous
  • You should be able to employ good engineering practices and a risk based approach to decision making, whilst being able demonstrate strong analytical skills and have experience of leading small to medium sized projects from concept through to completion, including budget and schedule management.
  • Willingness to learn and develop a product management approach
  • You should have proven capability in writing and presenting technical specifications and reports and be proficient in the use of IT systems, such as Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • You will be highly motivated and be able to show a demonstrable commitment to HSE and Quality, and a willingness to learn and develop a product management approach
  • You should be a strong communicator, able to engage with stakeholders of all levels, both internally and externally and have strong stakeholder management skills
  • You will be comfortable working on your own and as part of a team and to challenging deadlines as well as being a logical thinker with strong organisational skills who is able plan and prioritise changeable workloads, whilst also maintaining strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • You should have a commitment to Continuing Professional Development
