Subsea 7 have an exciting opening for a Fleet Transformation Manager to join our Project and Offshore Operations team on a full time, staff basis to be based ideally in our Westhill, Aberdeen office, however consideration will be given to candidates in other UK based offices, however frequent travel to Aberdeen may be required.

This is a great opportunity for someone to continue to build on the success of the Fleet Transformation group and also be given the scope to lead a dynamic team in a fast moving and diverse part of our organisation.  They will play a key role in identifying, creating and implementing the improvements for our varied fleet of vessels to ensure they are fit for purpose and at the forefront of the industry going forward. 

Reporting to the Group Fleet & Equipment Director, the Fleet Transformation Manager will have project management responsibility for their allocated projects. These  projects will range from digitalisation & automation improvements, including the management of significant capex equipment investments and they will have responsibility for safety, leadership and management of a multi-disciplined project team and collaborate with our inhouse & external technical specialists to deliver any given project.

The Fleet Transformation Manager’s primary role will be to ensure project deliverables and objectives are achieved. Key attributes for this position will be a forward-thinking, self starting visionary with a strong background in today’s digital evolving world, they will have strong collaborative and communicative skills and have considerable and demonstrable team management/ leadership experience working with cross discipline teams who report directly or indirectly to the role.

 All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.

Specific Key Responsibilities & Activities

  • Focal point for all project / initiatives within Project and Offshore Operations / Offshore Resources, delegating where appropriate. Leading the project team in order to help drive the delivery of projects to meet safety, cost, time and quality objectives.
  • This role will have budget, safety and quality responsibility for the project
  • Defines, selects, organises and builds the project team as appropriate, encouraging team to achieve project success by reducing cost and maximising profit without compromise to quality or safety
  • Prepare and present Monthly Status Reports which focus on the financial performance of the project as well as HSEQ, risks, opportunities and sensitivities.
  • Demonstrates safety leadership and ensures that all HSE concerns are closed out prior to work starting. Ensures lessons learned from previous projects are incorporated in planning
  • Communicates lessons learned to other projects
  • Is familiar with technical work scope and the project schedule
  • Responsible for ensuring the correct equipment and materials are readied for the project, and that it complies with company and statutory requirements.
  • Liaises with the business outside of Project and Offshore Operations / Offshore Resources, including Digitalisation teams, Environmental/ Sustainability teams, Engineering teams and other managers to ensure effective interfacing between projects / departments. Cooperating with other projects and departments to ensure overall efficiency of the company resources including vessels, equipment and personnel
  • Oversees all aspects of any subcontracting required, through adherence to company tendering process and negotiates with suppliers to obtain most cost / risk effective service
  • Provides feedback on performance of team and assist in development, training and coaching of project members
  • Responsible for timely and complete project close out
  • Works in line with authority levels set by Subsea 7 authorisation matrix
  • Act as a role model to the rest of the project team with strong safety leadership.
  • Any other duties as directed by the Fleet & Equipment Director.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Specified Qualifications for position:

  • A degree in Engineering/Technical is required, however consideration will be given to candidates with demonstrable experience in a Senior Project Management role

Skills 

  • Strong organisational skills with a collaborative and explorative nature.
  • Self-starter with the ability to ‘think out of the box’ and radicalise improvement opportunities
  • Proven problem solving capabilities and positive outlook to overcoming challenges and barriers which arise in the fast moving digital world and project lifecycle.
  • Technical bias and capable of developing a deep understanding of the company’s vision with regards to products and technology.
  • Commercial acumen with strong focus on cost control and budget compliance.
  • Schedule savvy with a focus on drivers and interdependencies.
  • Be able to build strong and effective relationships with Clients and internal stakeholders.

Experience:

  • It is essential that candidates should have experience and knowledge in the digital/ transformation change industry and/or have an understanding of the oil and gas / marine industry

Managerial Experience:

  • It is essential that candidates have extensive experience managing and collaborating at a Senior Level and with their own direct and indirect reports
  • Candidate that can be self-motivated is strongly desirable
