Subsea 7 currently have a requirement for a Trainee Data Processor reporting to the Data Delivery Manager. The successful applicant will undertake an initial period of academic training, to understand survey principles and the usage of various software packages, including GIS. On completion of training, duties will progress to assist with data processing activities within Subsea 7 Survey and Inspection activities. The role will support Remote Operations for global projects. Progression to more senior Data Processing roles follow on as part of the career development journey.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Processing of Hydrographic Survey and Inspection data including digital terrain and pipeline inspection data
  • Processing of acoustic navigation data
  • Application of both Processing and GIS software
  • Video review and eventing
  • Creation of charts and fly-sheets
  • Implementing GIS Technology associated with map production
  • Compliance with Data Governance processes related to Survey data
  • Oversee and execute Managed File Transfer systems to maintain delivery of raw data.
  • Manage work against scheduled deadlines
  • Maintain comprehensive handover notes
  • Maintain detailed and accurate logs
  • Complete all training programmes and associated tasks
  • Complete self-assessment documentation
  • Communicate ongoing training needs to line Manager

 Qualifications and Education 

  • Educated to Higher level or equivalent
  • Qualifications in earth science, geography, mathematics (desirable)
  • Masters in GIS (desirable)

 Skills

  • Excellent computer skills and understanding of data formats
  • Knowledge of SQL and database structure
  • Knowledge of Cloud based technologies applied to data storage and manipulation
  • Clear and effective oral and written communication skills
  • Creative thinking - recognising, exploring, and using a broad range of ideas and practices
  • Identify technological trends and patterns that could be applied in the role
  • Team player
  • A ‘can do’ attitude
  • Self-motivated with ability to prioritise and manage own work

Location

  • Role location is based at Subsea 7 East Campus, Westhill, Aberdeen
  • Some occasional travel to other Subsea 7 sites may be required
