OVERVIEW OF ROLE

 

The Designer II is responsible for producing drawings and sketches consistent with good engineering practice and in compliance with company drafting procedures.

 

They should have knowledge and training related to drafting and design within Marine and/or Oil and Gas industry.

 

SPECIFIC KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES

 

  • Provides design drafting skills of a high quality and efficient output for all project work undertaken, which is normally subject to internal checking and approval.
  •  
  • Provide CAD skills and knowledge both 2D and where appropriate 3D for subsea structures and equipment layouts, fabrication, transportation, and installation (PLETs, Jumpers, Suction Piles, Flying Leads, Deck and Field Layouts etc.)
  •  
  • Interface with applicable designer(s) to ensure CAD deliverable schedule is being met.
  •  
  • Undertake checking of others work in a project or department environment within own experience and competence level.

 

  • Ensure that design services provided comply with company standards and processes in line with appropriate specifications.
  •  
  • Operate within standardized engineering policies, processes and systems.
  •  
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards used in the drafting work carried out.
  •  
  • Liaise directly when instructed with Project Engineers on installation drawings, layouts and sketches.
  •  
  • Comply with all quality system requirements regarding production, registering, revision and filing of drawings and sketches.

 

  • Communicate with other designers to ensure knowledge sharing, best practice and competence.

 

  • Record lessons learned and Opportunities for Improvement to assist in improved company systems and services.

 

  • Actively participate in relevant training and development to pursue continuing professional development.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

 

Essential Experience, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Professional qualifications – Drafting and Design Associates degree ideally in Structural/Mechanical (Demonstrable experience in a similar role will also be considered)
  • Relevant design and drafting experience (3-5 years required) in producing layouts, installation, transportation and fabrication within the Marine and/or Oil and Gas industry.
  • Ability to function within a design team and across multiple projects.
  • Ability to prioritize own workload and manage time accordingly to meet time/budget constraints.
  • Sound communication skills, oral, written and electronic.
  • Produces work of presentable quality.
  • Familiar with drafting industry codes, standards and design guidelines.
  • Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of Vault and Inventor preferred.
  • Knowledge of Civil3D a bonus.
