DESCRIPTION OF FUNCTION

Overall responsibility within the Project rests with the Project Manager who has the authority to act and commit on the behalf of Subsea 7.

The Project Manager is to ensure that the Contract is prepared and then executed in accordance with Subsea 7 procedures and Contract requirements, meeting targets set in terms of HSES and Quality, while achieving schedule and financial objectives.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible of the project execution from Tender phase up to Project completion for AMEC region.
  • Establish jointly with Company, with Project Team and key suppliers, a Project charter that shall govern the success of the project.
  • Ensure an injury free workplace on all sites of the projects encouraging and supporting leadership safety initiatives.
  • Establish a successful relationship with Company.
  • Elaborate a Project Execution Plan at Tender stage and then execute it as planned or better.
  • Achieve an effective handover from tender to project teams.
  • Implement an effective Risks and Opportunities Management system.
  • Establish the Project organisation, the responsibilities, and ensure the accountability of project team to enhance Project performance.
  • Contribute to the development of the human resources assigned to the project and ensure their yearly appraisal in contact with the functional departments.
  • Assign budgets to each member of the Project Management team at the beginning of the Contract and embed their accountability during the execution.
  • Ensure that the Project financial results are within target or above and initiate any corrective action that may be required for this purpose.
  • Ensure real-time monitoring of project progress is in place and any corrective measures are implemented to progress as per the convergence plan established at the start of the project.
  • Identify and manage Contract changes and notify Company in a timely manner, of their impact on costs, work schedule and Contract obligations.
  • Ensure that all internal and external interfaces are identified and closed out in a timely manner.
  • Accurate and timely reporting of Project status to Company and to Subsea 7 management.
  • Comply with the Local Content regulations and ensure all activities are performed in full respect of compliance regulations.
  • Provide regular feedback of “lessons learnt” and ensure proper closing out of the Contract, internally, with Company and Subcontractors.

 

AUTHORITY/DIMENSIONS

  • Financial / Commercial Authority: As per Subsea 7’s Authorisation Level Matrix
  • The Project Manager reports to the Director of Projects & Operations.
  • Reporting to this position are the key project personnel such as:

-             Project HSES Manager,

-             Project Quality Manager,

-             Engineering Manager,

-             Supply Chain Manager,

-             Construction/Operations Manager,

-             Cost Control Lead,

-             Planning Lead,

-             Interface Manager,

-             Project Assistant.

 

INTERFACES

The Project Manager will regularly interface with the following:

External:

  • COMPANY representative and its Contractors
  • Main Subsea 7 Subcontractors and suppliers

Internal:

  • HSEQ Department
  • Internal Services providers (Offshore Resources and Pipeline Group)
  • Engineering, Supply Chain, Fabrication and Operations Departments
  • Subsea 7 AMEC countries offices and Yards
  • Finance Department
  • Legal and Contract Department
  • Sales and Marketing Department
  • Human Resources Department
  • Other Regions.

 

CAPABILITY PROFILE – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND BEHAVIOURS

  • Engineering Degree associated with Mechanical, Civil, Offshore or Marine disciplines.
  • Experience in project management
  • Knowledge of the Oil & Gas Industry
  • Fluent in English Language

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

The Project Manager will be expected to carry out the work under the following conditions:

  • Work will be based in the Subsea 7 Paris office with possible mission in other Subsea 7 offices (Lisbon and/or AMEC countries) where the project takes place or where the company is based.
  • Standard working hours but occasionally will be expected to work extended hours to meet critical deadlines
  • Organize several visits to company, fabrication yards, Construction vessels, and main Subcontractors during the Project
