Who we are looking for?

Due to our continued growth, Subsea 7 have an exciting permanent staff opportunity for a Digitalisation Engineer to join our Pipeline Group (PG) team responsible for for delivering fit for purpose rigid pipeline installation analysis to projects and/or tenders supported by the PG with specific focus on safe and cost-effective installation operations.

The Digitalisation Engineer will support the Installation Engineering Digitalisation Champion’s initiatives taken to move PG into the digitalisation era.  They will be responsible for supporting the development of automation and digital tools with the aim to improve the ways of working of the PG Installation Engineering teams and will take on designated responsibilities of the Installation Engineering Digitalisation Champion during their time off

Pipeline Group have engineering hubs in London and Paris and we are looking for candidates to be based in either of these offices.

What does the role involve?

Duties of the Digitalisation Engineer can involve but are not limited to:

  • Develop process maps with the support of PG team leads and principal engineers
  • Develop tools to automate/standardise processes and activities
  • Support and monitor tool development undertaken by internal teams and/or external companies
  • Explore data collected by digitalisation tools and identify data applications
  • Support the Installation Engineering Digitalisation Champion with planning, reporting, and promoting digitalisation activities to the PG installation engineering team
  • Manage interfaces with key stakeholders
  • Keep up to date with the industry and identify any applicable digital opportunities for PG Installation Engineering

What do you need to have?

  • You should have a strong interest in programming and digitalisation and have a passion for innovation and improving ways of working.
  • You will have experience and knowledge of offshore installation, ideally in subsea pipelines
  • You should be proficient with Orcaflex and/or Abaqus and with with systems such as Python or VBA
  • You should be a strong communicator, who is comfortable working on their own and as part of a team
  • You will have excellent report writing skills with the ability to produce accurate work, as well as the ability to prioritise and organise your work accordingly to meet deadlines set by management
  • You will be highly motivated and be able to show a demonstrable commitment to HSE and Quality
  • You should have a commitment to Continuing Professional Development
  • This role may involve short spells of overseas travel and potential offshore activities so candidates may need to show a willingness and flexibility
