Subsea 7 are now seeking a dedicated and driven individual to join our Rigid Pipeline Design discipline in Sutton (UK), which is part of the Design & Analysis department of the Global Project Centre & Asia Pacific business unit.

The level I or level II engineer will contribute to the in-place design of subsea rigid pipelines, for tenders, FEEDs and EPCIs, as well as to discipline activities such as continuous improvements and technology developments.

Key Responsibilities & Activities

  • Provide skills in key areas of subsea rigid pipeline/spool engineering, in accordance with client’s specifications / scope of work, design codes and Subsea 7 guidelines, including but not limited to:
    • field layout / routing design
    • mechanical design
    • thermomechanical design
    • engineering of stabilisation, freespanning, lateral buckling and walking mitigation/control measures
    • post-lay assessments
  • Perform rigid pipeline/spool in-place design calculations and analyses.
  • Contribute to producing material take-off, design reports, technical notes, engineering drawings (in collaboration with draftsmen), design review slide packs, technical scope of work, technical queries, deviation requests, risk assessments etc., for tenders, FEEDs and EPCIs.
  • Take ownership of, organise and prioritise allocated tasks.
  • Manage time constraints to meet deadlines.
  • Participate in rigid pipeline project team and discipline meetings.
  • Report to project lead engineer and discipline manager.
  • Ensure implementation of Subsea 7 guidelines, best practices, processes, project experience and lessons learnt.
  • Contribute to discipline developments such as engineering tools, continuous improvements and technology developments.
  • Actively participate in training and pursue continuing professional development.

 

Essential Education, Skills & Experience

  • Degree in a STEM subject.
  • Professional experience. The role would suit a candidate from a range of backgrounds such as onshore or offshore pipeline engineering, subsea/offshore engineering, mechanical or structural engineering, finite element analysis or relevant PhD.
  • Sound communication skills in English, both verbal and written
  • Ability to:
    • present self in a professional manner appropriate to the role
    • organise, prioritise and deliver allocated tasks to meet deadlines
    • deliver under pressure and adapt to changing requirements
    • work effectively and collaborate within a team
    • build and maintain strong professional relationships at all levels

Desirable Education, Skills & Experience

  • MSc or PhD in a STEM subject
  • Engineering experience within the subsea energy industry
  • Knowledge of subsea pipeline design and/or finite element analysis
  • Knowledge of Abaqus / FEA
  • Knowledge of VBA and/or Python
  • Membership with a relevant professional engineering institution (e.g. IMechE, ICE etc.)
