POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking to recruit a Technical Skills Trainer to join our global Survey & Inspection team in Aberdeen, UK. The Technical Skills Trainer is responsible for the design, documentation and delivery of specialist technical training in Survey & Inspection related software, hardware and operational procedures to the company’s offshore survey field-staff and onshore specialists.

You will be familiar with a wide range of subsea survey & inspection equipment, software, techniques and operations and have a passion for learning new skills and coaching & developing others.

Reporting to the Chief Surveyor, you will be an integral part of the Survey Applications & Technical support team collaborating with stakeholders both internally & externally to drive a culture of continuous improvement that delivers consistent, and reliable performance of survey services across our Subsea7 and Seaway7 offshore operations.

Who We’re Looking For

An individual with a relevant technical background in offshore survey & inspection who has a keen eye for detail and is passionate about learning and sharing knowledge with others.  You will be willing to travel to worksites around the world both onshore and offshore to deliver training.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Designing high quality and engaging standard training courses to reflect the training and competence requirements for offshore field-staff
  • Developing and maintaining training course materials to meet the objectives of training modules
  • Delivering training courses either in person or through innovative virtual methods
  • Designing and developing e-learning resources & materials for self-tuition by field-staff and agency personnel as part of a blended learning solution
  • Organising internal & external training courses ensuring appropriate candidate assessment and course feedback is received, monitored and actioned
  • Conducting regular review and revision of training courses, materials & presentations
  • Researching, reviewing and evaluating external training resources, courses and providers.
  • Conducting periodic audits of offshore worksites to identify areas for improvement in understanding and implementation of standard process & procedures
  • Providing input into Global Skills Training Matrix and develop annual training plan and budget
  • Supporting the recruitment process for trainees and experienced offshore personnel through technical interviews and advising on candidate selection
  • Collaborating with the Offshore Development team to monitor skills, competence and training requirements of offshore survey & inspection personnel
  • Collaborating with the Offshore Crewing team to advise on available training to meet project requirements
  • Supporting the Applications & Technical support teams for operational support to offshore worksites as necessary

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • A qualification in a relevant survey discipline or extensive relevant experience in survey operations across offshore subsea construction and Inspection, Repair & Maintenance (IRM)
  • Offshore experience at a senior level
  • A high level of proficiency and knowledge of typical software and hardware used in Survey & Inspection across the offshore Energy market
  • A detailed knowledge and understanding of latest technology and methods within offshore Survey & Inspection
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills
