POSITION OVERVIEW

We have a new and exciting role for a Project Engineering Manager  to join the Seaway 7 Engineering business units based in our office in Westhill, Aberdeen or Zoetermeer, Netherlands.  The successful candidate will act as the engineering lead on offshore wind projects from tender through to execution. This is a great opportunity to be involved in the Renewables business and gain first-hand experience of working on large scale, global projects.

The projects we are pursuing are very large and complex, can run for years and have a large percentage of the work subcontracted. The role will include supporting business development, delivering technology studies, managing the engineering input to tenders as well as co-ordinating the work of other groups within Seaway 7 and managing external consultants. The opportunity then exists to progress with a successful tender into the execution phase.

Much of the work is in the delivery of offshore wind turbine foundations and experience of structures or geotechnics and related disciplines would be an advantage. Experience of offshore renewables, especially offshore wind would be an advantage. 

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Preparation of tenders and delivery of all engineering requirements associated with client work scopes.
  • Ensure lessons learned for previous tenders and projects are employed to help win and successfully deliver new projects.
  • Deliver innovate solutions and reduce risk to as low as possible level to help win and successfully deliver projects.
  • Manage the engineering resources and interfaces on a tender or project to achieve successful delivery.
  • Interface with discipline leads to ensure deliverable schedule is being met and budget is on track across multiple work scopes
  • Ensure schedule of engineering is linked to procurement activities, package and fabrication supply across multiple projects
  • Manage and participate in technical audits of projects and studies.
  • Responsible for ensuring that standard of engineering services provided complies with corporate standards and client specifications along with appropriate legislation thus ensuring contract compliance to protect company interests.
  • Ensure all engineering personnel are aware of Seaway 7 business management and project management procedures and ensure adherence to client standards
  • Ensure that all procedures and methods of work developed have considered the safety of personnel and assets to minimise risk and potential cost of loss.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Qualifications and Education:

  • It is preferable for candidate to be degree qualified in Engineering or Marine discipline plus appropriate experience.
  • Candidates should show a commitment to Continuing Professional Development.

Skills:

  • Proven Offshore Engineering Experience working on EPCI projects at a senior level is essential
  • Proven demonstrable experience of extensive involvement with the full tender lifecycle, ideally on projects of a similar size and scope is essential
  • Good commercial awareness, an understanding of cost and an ability to develop cost effective solutions for tenders.
  • Experience in technical risk identification and mitigation.
  • Experience of working on renewables projects, especially offshore wind, would be an advantage.
  • Experience of managing multi-discipline engineering input to projects or work packages.
  • Experience of working directly with clients.
  • Demonstrable ability to work within time/budget constraints.
  • Experience in technical risk identification and mitigation.
  • An ability to lead engineering teams across multiple locations.
  • Experience in interface management.
  • Candidates should be generally conversant with IT systems such as e-mail and internet, and capable of utilising standard software packages such as MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint etc.) as may be required to facilitate written correspondence, reports and presentations.

Interpersonal:

  • Excellent communication skills, oral, written and electronic.
  • Mentor engineers who have joined the company through the graduate and conversion programme.
