OVERVIEW OF ROLE

Subsea 7 is seeking a dedicated and driven individual to join the Installation Analysis Discipline within the Gulf of Mexico Engineering team. Installation Analysis Engineer specializes in the engineering verification of installation methods for umbilical / flexible / rigid pipeline / mooring lines installation / subsea structure transportation and deployment / host station keeping / and any other offshore operation that may require analysis checks.

Under guidance from a Senior and/or Lead or Principal Engineer an Engineer Level II provides engineering skills to projects, tendering activities, engineering studies, vessels, and equipment and/or offshore engineering processes. Compliance with and delivery against project plans, relevant engineering standards and contractual obligations is required. The Engineer Level II usually works as part of a team but may have responsibility for discrete work packages. He/she may be required to check technical documentation.

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.

 

SPECIFIC KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES 

  • Under limited supervision, independently perform installation analysis in relevant scopes - umbilical / flexible / rigid pipeline / mooring lines installation, subsea structure transportation and deployment, host station keeping, … - technically supporting local project and tendering teams.
  • Provides engineering support during operations with occasional periods offshore or outside working hours.
  • Under limited supervision, independently evaluates, organizes, and prioritizes work.
  • Understand the interfaces within a project and liaise with relevant disciplines.
  • Understands clients' needs; identifies and addresses parameters and problems; develops and implements fit for purpose solutions with a clear focus on cost and risks reduction. Represents the Company in meetings/correspondence with Clients, Subcontractors, 3rd Parties etc., in a technical capacity.
  • Responsible for ensuring that standard of engineering services provided complies with relevant codes, client engineering standards and current good engineering practice. Operate within standardized engineering policies, processes, and systems in the Business Management System BSM. Ensure full traceability of the technical development of the assigned scope throughout the life of the project.
  • Undertakes responsibility for production of deliverables, which may include specifications, analyses, progress reports, study reports and various 3rd-party submissions. Signs and issues technical documentation as originator or checker, accepting personal responsibility for its adequacy.
  • Actively engage in and promote knowledge sharing, capture of Lessons Learned and application of Engineering Standards. Actively participate in the discipline initiatives. Trains / mentors more junior engineers
  • Actively participate in relevant training to pursue continuing professional development

 Essential Experience, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Professional qualifications – Engineering Degree (Demonstrable experience in a similar role will also be considered)
  • Relevant engineering experience (3+ years) in the Subsea Umbilical Riser Flowline (SURF) within the Marine and/or Oil and Gas industry
  • Proficient with OrcaFlex (Essential) – Familiarity with systems such as Python, VBA,… is desirable
  • Demonstrable ability to work within time/budget constraints
  • Presents self in a professional manner appropriate to the role
  • Demonstrable ability to prioritize and organize work
  • Identifies industry codes, standards, and design guidelines
  • Ability to support package engineering and management
  • Communication and collaboration skills, both written and verbal - being able to speak with all levels within the business, and deliver proper, accurate and organized reports
  • Competency in non-technical software such as MS Office – including Excel, Word, and Power Point
  • Understanding of relevant industry codes, standards, and guidelines is desired (e.g., API and DNV).
