Your mission

The Global Projects Centre & Asia Pacific (GPC & AP) is Subsea7's centre of excellence for the execution of its largest projects worldwide.

Within the Subsea Structures & Piping Design Department, responsible for a Package of Structures and reporting to an Engineering Manager within a GPC&AP Project, you will be in charge of the organization, coordination, management of the interfaces of your Team, the provision of technical expertise and will ultimately be responsible for Structural and Piping design activities of this Team to ensure successful delivery of high-quality engineering to meet commercial and technical needs.

As an expert in Subsea Structures & Piping Design, you will be a reference to your Team and support the knowledge management as well as technology initiatives relating to the Structures & Piping Design discipline.

As a leader, you will be expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.

Your main missions will be:

  • Under own supervision, manage a package of structures within a Project and be responsible for its planning, interfaces and delivery as expected in time and budget;
  • Take responsibility for design activities of a high level of complexity, including production of deliverables, which may include engineering support to the Drawing Office, design calculations, specifications, procedures, analyses, progress reports, bid evaluations, study reports, and various 3rd-party submissions;
  • Sign and issue technical documentation as originator or checker, accepting personal responsibility for its adequacy;
  • Provide specialist skills, integrity, and knowledge in key areas of Subsea Structures & Piping Design engineering, including design codes, legislative requirements, and current good engineering practice;
  • Understand client's needs;
  • Identify and address design parameters and problems, proposes, develops, and manage solutions implementation;
  • Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed;
  • Represent the Company in meetings/correspondence with Clients, Subcontractors, 3rd Parties etc., from a technical perspective;
  • Interface with key stakeholders internally (Structures, Materials & Welding, Drawing Office, Fabrication, Pre-commissioning, Project Engineering Managers, etc.) and externally (Hardware and equipment suppliers, Clients, 3rd party verification bodies);
  • Prepare Cost-Time-Resource and resource plans to deliver large EPCI projects, leading your Project Design Teams from a global pool of Subsea Piping Engineers, monitoring progress and tracking change through Management of Change Procedures
  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement increasing the predictable performance whilst minimizing cost-of-loss;
  • Train/mentor more junior engineers.

 

Your profile

  • Engineer Diploma or equivalent;
  • Ability to organize and prioritize own and others' workload, manage time and change control accordingly and direct team members where constraints will affect a project in terms of program or budget;
  • Related experience at an equivalent level, including a period as a Senior Engineer, in Oil and Gas, Subsea equipment, or Offshore Renewables structural design-related activities;
  • Strong experience in steel construction design in general, permanent structures design (ILTs, PLETs…) knowledge and experience is mandatory;
  • Good knowledge of industry standards and design codes (AISC, API, ABS, BV, DNV, Eurocodes…);
  • Competency in design and analysis software packages for FEA (Abaqus, Ansys…) and Beam Elements (SACS, NSO/ISYMOST…) is essential;
  • Good knowledge of piping, connectors, valves, and forgings and associated design codes as well as materials (steels, composites, plastics, and polymers in general, …), welding (processes, metallurgy, NDTs), and manufacturing & fabrication in general with significant field experience will be a real advantage to your application.
  • Demonstrated and recognized benevolent and efficient leadership qualities;
  • Ability to promote an HSE and Quality culture;
