OVERVIEW OF ROLE

This is an opportunity to be part of an international vessel operator in the Energy Industry.

The Chief Officer is responsible to the Vessel Master and may act as their deputy on board. They have the responsibility to manage the deck department and carry out Watch Duties; acting as Senior Officer of the Watch, Senior DP Operator and Duty Officer when in Port.

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.

All personnel are also expected to contribute to creating a culture of ethics and integrity within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to our Code of Conduct.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assists Master in emergency situations
• Assists Master in implementing Company policies and Safety Management System
• Maintains the safe and efficient operation of the deck department
• Watch duty including acting as Senior DP Operator and Senior Officer of The Bridge Watch.
• Vessel’s designated Ship Security Officer and responsible for ensuring ship's security in Port, at anchor and when at sea.
• Supervision of the safe and efficient loading/unloading, storing and sea-fastening of all cargo goods in holds, on deck or in deck storage areas. Checking of project related equipment loaded onboard.
• Draft, Trim and Stability calculations ensuring statutory criteria compliance
• Ballast Water Management Officer
• Liaises with Chief Engineer to pre-plan tank rotation for fuel consumption
• Responsible for the maintenance of all marine deck equipment. Maintains all deck machinery, including certificates, ancillary equipment and updating planned maintenance programs in conjunction with the Chief Engineer
• Organising and supervising all LOLER inspections / checks as per the current guidelines and planned maintenance, this includes maintaining a register and certification file.
• Responsible for ship's critical asset wire rope test certification           
• Updating the Wire Assurance Matrix
• Organises watch keeping arrangements and provision of safe means of access when in Port.
• Maintains fabric of vessel excluding machinery spaces
• Maintains adequate fresh water on sailing and liaises with ER whilst at sea
• Maintains stock levels of deck stores
• Garbage and waste management in accordance with external and internal requirements
• Shipboard training/familiarisation of Officers and subordinate crew within their department (Bosun, ABs, AB/Bosun Crane Operators, etc.).
• Marine emergency training of all personnel onboard including fire drills, man overboard, safety, helicopter, working at height rescue etc.
• Ensuring that the STCW Hours of work and rest records are completed and signed.
• In conjunction with the Safe Systems of Work, responsible for the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) within their department.
• Be responsible for implementation and compliance with relevant parts of the Subsea 7 Business and Safety Management Systems within their department, and for co-ordination of any interfaces with the other Department Heads onboard.              
• Assist Project Team as requested and as instructed by the Master.              
• Assist the Master in conducting Master's Review in accordance with the ISM Code and ISPS Code.
• Responsible, within their field of influence and authority, to the Master for their department's operational and investment cost being kept within the Fleet Management approved budget. Assist the Master in drawing up budget proposals for their department.

Requirements:

• STCW 95 (A-II/2) Certificate of Competency (Chief Officer Unlimited) meeting legislative requirements of the Flag State
• Must have at least 2 years of relevant working experience as Chief Mate on DP Vessels
• Must have extensive experience working on a pipelay vessel
• Experience on any similar types and size of vessel. For Example: Rigid Pipelay/ Heavy lift, Diving , Renewables & Heavy lifting , Construction / Vertical Flex-lay and Construction/ Horizontal Flex-lay .
• Experience of more than “3” years as independent watch keeping officer including “1” year as 2nd Officer.
• Recognised Seaman's Discharge Book
• Recognised DP Operator's Certificate and experience in accordance with IMCA M117
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing in accordance with STCW Code Table A-II/I
• New recruits to the Company should have a minimum of “1” year’s rank experience.
• Fully conversant with Flag State Maritime Law / Legislation
• Fully conversant with ship's Safety Management System (Ref: ISM Code)
• Completed Ship Security Officer Course relevant for the position (Ref: ISPS Code)
• Hold at all times a valid Seafarers Medical fitness certificate and offshore survival certification suitable for geographical area of work
