Reporting to a Project Engineering Manager  (PEM) or a Lead Engineer (LE) as appropriate, a Senior Engineer provides engineering and technical expertise to the project team, supporting the PEM/LE, other Senior (Discipline) Engineers and/or Project Managers.

The requirement is to produce detailed engineering to deliver project work, managing aspects of the team as agreed with the Management team. Work may include supporting studies and tenders as well as live projects.

A Senior Engineer may work solo on a work scope or manage a small team of Project Engineers to complete the job. They may be an overall specialists or technical specialists within a specific discipline. They can support the knowledge management and technology initiatives relating to the discipline.

Work may be carried out onshore or offshore, depending upon the particular discipline in question.A Senior Engineer is aware of the content of The Contract and Employers Requirements and will know how to create chances and opportunities.

They will be aware of the Employer responsibilities of the contract and will act as such.

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Seaway7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.

 

SPECIFIC KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES

The Engineer:

  • Provides specialist skills, integrity and knowledge in project or discipline engineering, including design codes, legislative requirements and current good engineering practice. Understands clients' needs; identifies and addresses design parameters and problems; develops and implements solutions.
  • Can work under limited supervision, independently evaluates, organises and prioritises work.
  • Undertakes responsibility for production of deliverables, which may include engineering support to the Drawing Office, design calculations, specifications, procedures, analyses, progress reports, bid evaluations, study reports and various 3rd party submissions.
  • Signs and issues technical documentation as originator or checker, accepting personal responsibility for its adequacy.
  • May direct small teams.
  • May agree and monitor performance objectives with direct reports. Where necessary provide day to day guidance and coaching.
  • Knows, and respects, the organizational project chart and communication matrix and follows lines of communication.
  • Ensures all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed.
  • Is an employee of the Company and respects the values and visions of the Company. With that respect the Engineer represents the Company in meetings/correspondence with Clients, Subcontractors, 3rd Parties etc., in a technical capacity.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

 

  • Ability to lead and function team member(s) across multiple projects.
  • Sound communication skills, oral, written and electronic.
  • Ability to prioritise own and others’ workload, manage time and change control accordingly and direct team members where constraints will affect a project in terms of programme or budget.
  • Ability to manage interfaces within a project structure, including other disciplines, drawing office, document control, project management, client and suppliers.
  • Demonstrable ability to work within time/budget constraints
  • Commitment to Continuing Professional Development.
  • Ability to guide and Mentor graduates and junior engineers
  • Demonstratable experience in the offshore renewables industry.
  • Has a good network in the offshore renewables industry.
  • Knows the strong points and weak point in performance and is willing to work on them.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree qualified in an engineering discipline.
  • Offshore Medical and survival certificates are essential.
