Vessel Operations Manager

The Vessel Operations Manager is the vessel’s single point of contact for project and tendering teams; providing continuity of knowledge regarding the vessel’s capabilities, performance, cost base and technical library.
During project execution, the Vessel Operations Manager supports the Project Manager/Project Operations Manager and the Offshore Management Team (OMT) to deliver the vessel program according to schedule, whilst ensuring constant, efficient and safe ways of working.
The Vessel Operations Manager reports to the Operations Manager of the Country responsible for the vessel.
Offshore Managers and Field Engineers report to the Vessel Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering a vessel to the project that:
- operates safely
- operates efficiently
- is fully ready to operate (mobilisation)
- remains fully operational throughout the project life
- Identifying the most efficient field-to-field transition between projects
- Optimising Persons on Board (POB) in agreement with Project Operations Manager, i.e. numbers, skills, organisation, origin etc., to fulfil project needs
- Continuously improving vessel safety and operational performance
- Maintaining and updating the technical library for the vessel and its equipment, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and performance norms for specific activities carried out by the vessel and its equipment
- Carrying out the Performance Management Review (PMR) of direct reports, i.e. Offshore Manager and Field Engineers and ensuring that the PMRs of indirect reports, i.e. Construction Crew, are carried out in due time
- Support tender teams in provision of vessel information (capability, capacity), best practices and cost input
Key Qualifications/Experience
- Third-level technical or similar university degree, with 8 years of experience in offshore industry and offshore experience from subsea construction vessels
- Proven ability to solve operational problems without supervision and deliver effective results to internal clients
- Contribute to creating and managing a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7, providing safety leadership and championing Subsea 7's critical safety behaviours
- Strong sense of accountability
- Strong organisational capacities
- Outstanding communication and leadership skills
- Fluent in English
