Seaway7 has an exciting opportunity and are looking for someone to become the Seabed Intervention Manager, leading a team of specialist engineers in relation to Geotechnical, Geophysical, Scour Protection, Trenching, Dredging and Noise mitigation, to service our global needs within Seaway7.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a global strategy on how the Seabed Intervention team will support all of Seaway7 front end, development, tender and project execution needs. Considering market trends and 3rd party company developments.
  • Ensuring that there are adequate resources within the team to deliver business commitments (onshore and offshore) and that this level is maintained and recognized within Seaway7 and the industry.
  • Manage a multi skilled Seabed Intervention team containing specialist geotechnical engineers, scour protection engineers, trenching/dredging engineers and noise mitigation engineers, being ultimately responsible for the provision of support to all projects and tenders.
  • Be the technical focal point for seabed intervention engineering within Seaway7, liaise with client experts, project teams and sub-contractors. Ensuring that disciplines contribute within the early stages of our projects to better manage our risks.
  • Ensure evaluation the quality of available site investigations on tenders and projects and be capable of specifying and supervising complementary site investigations when needed.
  • Interpret and use offshore site investigation data and be able to integrate results into detailed design of subsea infrastructure.
  • Evaluate digital tools and techniques to develop our digital roadmap for the future.
  • Understand general geotechnical issues and evaluate any associated financial / safety / quality implications to Seaway7.
  • Evaluate and develop Seaway7’s Geographical Information System to better support the business and our client needs.
  • Contribute to Innovation and Technology Development related to soil/scour protection cable and soil/structure interactions. Contribute to internal R & D activities relating to soil/structure and/or cable interaction.
  • The selected candidate will report to the Engineering Director BU2 and will be part of a successful multi-cultural, multi-location team.

Experience

  • It is essential that candidates must have proven Engineering experience working to a similar level, preferably within geotechnical, rock dumping & trenching disciplines.
  • Demonstrable ability to work within time/budget constraints is essential.
  • Ability to lead a design team to support multiple projects is essential.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience working on projects across the globe with a good grounding of various soil conditions/behavior that may be encountered.
  • Experience of the design of WTG foundation types including driven piles, monopiles, spud-cans, suctions caissons and gravity bases, understanding team's role/position/responsibilities in various renewables project context, e.g. (PRE-)FEED, EPCI, T&I.
  • Experience of cable routing studies, cable protection techniques and near-mudline geotechnical characterisation studies would be beneficial.

  • Strong cultural awareness with an ability to manage a multi-cultural, multi location team based in various office locations (Zoetermeer, Leer, Aberdeen, Oslo, Taiwan, US.)
  • Practical thinker with Strong analytical skills, able to develop well defined action plans with a focused on continuous improvement.
  • Creative problem solving - able to suggest and develop new methods and ways of working.
  • Understanding of clients’ needs and ability to suggest and apply “fit for purpose” solutions.
  • Sound communication skills – able to communicate ideas and results to various stakeholders (both in written reports and in meetings, presentations etc.).
  • Understand offshore construction techniques and the impact that design decisions have on the safety, feasibility and cost of EPCI renewable projects.

Self-Management:

  • Extended capability in managing self and others, possesses good time management focus, ability to set priorities, creative thinking and someone who supports the wellbeing of the team.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree or equivalent in Engineering would be beneficial to have specialist knowledge and experience in offshore Geotechnical Engineering and subsea trenching equipment and its performance.
  • Relevant working experience within the Energy industries.
