Subsea7 produce large quantities of engineering data which plays an important role in supporting the way we work. With this increased importance on data, we need to ensure its managed and governed appropriately to allow us to make timely decisions with the most up to date and accurate information.  

Working closely with the Deputy Group Chief Engineer, the Group Data Engineer will support the Engineering Function by co-ordinating global engineering data. A key aspect of the role will be the analysis and trending of data, looking for opportunities to evolve the way that we deliver our Engineering.

This role will enable you to have an impact on our business at a Global level and will raise your awareness of how our Company operates. We are looking for someone who is keen to learn, take on responsibility and work autonomously within a small team.

Although the role is focused on engineering data, there may be opportunities to support other Group Engineering activities.

WHAT ARE THE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES?

  • Performance Monitoring
    • Support the development of Engineering performance management, maintain and update existing Global Engineering Dashboards, development new Global Engineering Dashboards as required, manage workspaces and workspace strategy.
    • Analyse and trend data from multiple sources to identify the effect of change and to identify areas for focus.
  • Digitalisation
    • Liaise with key interfaces in the Regions and Digitalisation. Co-ordinate the development and management of the Engineering inputs into the Common Work Breakdown Structure (CWBS).
    • Co-ordinate Engineering activities related to the development of global engineering data models, data and data structures. For example, the development of a Product Breakdown Structure.
  • Knowledge Management
    • Support the development of knowledge management within Engineering with a focus on master data and its use to surface experience.
  • Community Management
    • Manage key Global community platforms (Microsoft Teams Channels, Functional Engineering Pages, SharePoint and Yammer as examples)
  • Data Governance
    • Act as a Data Steward for Engineering Data by identifying and logging data issues, manage access to Engineering Data and co-ordinate the development of solutions to data issues
    • Work closely with the Data Governance team to raise data awareness and data literacy across the Engineering function

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • A degree in Engineering or a related subject.
  • The ability to work autonomously, to listen and learn from others.
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated, willing to work in a small team to deliver change on a Global scale.
  • Strong networking, communication, presentation and analytical skills
  • Ability to analyse data to identify trends
  • Detailed orientated to ensure data consistency and quality.
  • Innovative thinker, someone who can propose new ideas or improvements to ways of working.
  • Experience of using Power BI, desirable
  • An interest in upskilling
  • Data Steward training can be provided
