Chartering and Marine Specialist

 

If you are selected as a Chartering and Marine Specialist, you will be responsible for working within Subsea7’s, Gulf of Mexico chartering and marine program including launching invitations to tender, evaluating technical specifications, receiving offers, negotiating technical and commercial issues, and providing operational support for multiple projects.  The successful candidate will have a combination of skills in chartering and marine operations. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensures marine and chartering category involvement for marine asset procurement activities, covering the entire project life cycle.

Preforms marine assurance reviews on all marine assets proposed for hire in support of the project work scope through to final selection and hire.

Liaises as the primary counter party with ship owners and subcontractors for all chartering negotiations.

Issues technical acceptance for a proposed vessel to be compatible with Project scope and marine assurance processes.  

Prepares and negotiates Charter Party Terms & Conditions for Offshore Supply Vessels, Light Construction Vessels, Anchor Handling Tugs, Barges and any other marine asset needed in support of project objectives.

Performs commercial and contractual analysis, schedule evaluation of bids and incorporate technical evaluation from Engineering, Marine, Diving & HSSEQ.

Prepares and oversight of charter budget to the associated project including verification of ship owner invoices. 

Ensures accurate and economic costing of charter tenders and assessment of risk including competition/market trends.

Supports marine technical operations during the execute phase to include site visits, investigations, contractor oversight and verification of risk mitigating actions.

 

 

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

4 years of experience in of a combination of chartering and marine operations in support of subsea, offshore development projects or marine operations  is required.

Degree field relating to Supply Chain, Chartering, Marine Operations, Marine Engineering or Engineering related to subsea is preferred.

Experience of some combination of marine technical specialist/advisor, commercial charterer, SAP, budget responsible officer or contract accountable manager.  

Has the ability to interpret/apply the terms and conditions within company’s contracting principles.

 

Desirable qualifications in a chartering candidate include:

Experience compiling bid comparison and preparing award recommendations while drafting charter parties with BIMCO.

Desirable qualifications in a marine operations candidate include:

Experience with projects/operations dealing with installation, mooring, commissioning and operating in an offshore marine environment or highly comparable experience in marine operations/engineering with a preference toward subsea.

ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE

Residing the Project Management and Operations organization, the Chartering and Marine Specialist will report to the Marine Operations Manager.  Accountable to interface daily with Project Managers, Project Operations Managers, Supply Chain, and project functions toward chartering 3rd party vessels used for subsea work scopes.

The Chartering and Marine Specialist will be concurrently assigned to several projects as allocated to a team of individuals with similar responsibilities.
