Subsea 7 is looking for talented Structural Engineers with any level of experience for positions in the Structural Design for Operations discipline in the Central Engineering Department.

This is a full time based position either in Singapore or UAE

 

A Structural Engineer provides engineering skills to projects, tendering activities, engineering studies, vessels and equipment and/or offshore engineering processes.

Compliance with and delivery against project plans, relevant engineering standards and contractual obligations is required.

The Engineer will usually work as part of a team and may also be required to provide information and engineering guidance to other functions such as SCM and operation team. He/she may be required to check technical documentation.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW 

  • Provide skills, integrity and knowledge in key areas of structural engineering, including design codes, legislative requirements and current good engineering practice. Understands clients’ needs; identifies and addresses design parameters and problems; develops and implements solutions.
  • Under limited supervision, independently evaluates, organises and prioritises work which is normally subject to internal checking and approval.
  • Responsible for production of deliverables, which may include engineering support to the Drawing Office, design calculations, specifications, procedures, analyses, progress reports, bid evaluations, study reports and various 3rd-party submissions
  • Originates technical documentation, accepting personal responsibility for its adequacy.
  • Involved with meetings/correspondence with Clients, subcontractors, 3rd parties, etc. in a technical capacity.
  • Undertake analysis, design and engineering activities associated with platform and subsea structure construction, transportation and installation.
  • Provide structural stability and integrity calculations for steel frame structures, installation aids items for pipelines, spool pieces, tie ins, risers and umbilical installation.  Design to resist forces for in-service, installation and transportation load conditions.  Determination of size, shape, strength, and type of structural members.
  • Perform seafastening design for jacket, topside, pipeline, spool pieces, tie ins, risers and umbilical transportation and vessel/barge deck strength check.
  • Design and detailing in accordance with acknowledged industry Codes, Standards and Design Guides (e.g. API, DNV, AISC); Client Specifications and Scopes of Work.
  • Be aware of associated T&I related disciplines and understand the interfaces within a project environment.
  • Provide engineering assistance during mobilisations and occasional periods of offshore or site working where required.
  • Provide technical engineering support to other departments within the Engineering Group, and to colleagues in terms of training and mentoring.
  • Promote personal Continuing Professional Development (CPD) through regular engagement with the professional engineering community
  • Assist in development of project-specific procedures for the implementation of work to be carried out by onshore & offshore personnel in accordance with Subsea 7 minimum standards. This may include some liaison directly with clients and subcontractors.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Engineering degree or equivalent.
  • Required work experience related to structural engineering.
  • Knowledge and experience of FEA software such as SACS, STAAD Pro, ANSYS, ABAQUS will get additional advantage.
