We are looking for a passionate Environmental Advisor to join our team based at our East Campus office in Westhill, Aberdeenshire on a full-time staff basis.

The Environmental Advisor, reporting to the Environmental Focal Point, is part of the UK and Global IRM (UKGIRM) region HSEQ team.  The HSEQ team together provide functional discipline support for the region and delivery of UK and global IRM projects which includes activity in Canada, Gulf of Mexico, Brazil, Azerbaijan and West Africa.   The primary responsibility of the role will be to provide environmental advice on the technical and operational management of related matters, be that at a Project, operational or functional support level.

The role will collaborate across multiple business areas within our Global organisation working with our Country and Project management teams, internal work groups and to represent Subsea7 when liaising with external stakeholders and third parties.

What will you be doing?

  • Provide support to the UKGIRM region with environmental initiatives and reporting, including environmental objectives, sustainability programmes and performance reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant international and national legislation through periodic review and including the identification, planning and roll-out of all new environmental legislative requirements.
  • Oversee the compliance of the UKGIRM regional Projects and onshore and offshore worksites to the Environmental Management System (EMS) including mandatory documentation and contribute to the development of the EMS.
  • Lead and maintain ISO 14001 compliance for the UKGIRM region including monitoring and reporting of environmental data and continuous improvement actions.
  • Support with providing environmental input to tenders.
  • Oversee the collation, inputting, monitoring, analysing and communicating of UKGRIM environmental statistics.
  • Monitor environmental performance, including participation in Management Reviews, initiatives and campaigns, advising management on performance and areas where improvement is required or recommended.
  • Work with internal stakeholders as required to answer requests for emissions information.
  • Lead or participate in environmental audits including internal, client and supplier audits.
  • Undertake periodic worksite environmental inspections to monitor compliance to legal, EMS and ISO 14001 requirements.
  • Provide support with expediting corrective action management relating to audit and inspection findings including non-conformities, and support verification of effectiveness.
  • Participate as an active member of the UKGIRM emergency response team for environmental incident response, including interfacing with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide support to internal and external stakeholders in relation to Project, client and worksite related environmental matters where directed.
  • Participate in the Subsea7 Environment and Sustainability Work Group to represent UKGIRM region, providing regional feedback and overseeing action management.
  • Lead and maintain content on the UKGIRM Environment Sharepoint site.
  • Participate in the investigation of environmental incidents and near misses.
  • Interface with other parts of the business (i.e. Group Environmental team, Offshore Resources) to ensure UK&GIRM environmental focus areas and objectives are aligned to the wider business

What experience would we like you to have?

  • Role relevant environmental qualification.
  • Membership of recognised professional body e.g. IEMA, CIEEM, EI or similar.
  • Qualified Lead Environmental Auditor with associated practical experience.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of current and forthcoming legislative requirements.
  • Demonstrable experience at an advisory level, gained within the energy industry preferred.
  • Practical understanding of relevant authorities, regulators, industry associations and bodies.
  • Fluent in English with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to build and maintain strong business relationships at all levels.
  • Approachable, demonstrates credibility and can engage and influence at all levels.
  • Pro-active with a solutions-based approach, and the ability to challenge and be challenged, responding in a constructive, coaching manner.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and ownership, while contributing to team activities.
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet the evolving needs of a 24/7 global business.
  • Excellent planning and organising skills, accustomed to working within a multi discipline and geographical region.
  • Proactively devises, promotes and ensures adherence to HSEQ, Company and legislative requirements.
  • Accustomed to report writing and, when required, presenting.
  • Competent in MS Office, experience with data management systems would be advantageous.
