Naval Architect

Seaway7 is looking for a Naval Architect on a full time, staff basis, situated within our Zoetermeer office.

As a Naval Architect, you will be responsible for specialist naval architect support to any Tenders & Projects as well as the implementation of new operational methods and equipment in our daily offshore operations. This is all with the aim to comply to the customers need.


What you will be doing

•    Analysis of vessel performance and preparation of load and design input for the projects
•    Support and advise the crew during the project execution
•    Liaise with project teams, subcontractors, crew, clients, and certification authorities
•    You will be supported to consolidate your engineering knowledge, including working knowledge of design codes and standards, legislative requirements, and current best engineering practices
•    Typical naval section activities are:
o    Multi body analysis of marine operations
o    Workability analysis
o    CFD analysis
o    Mooring analysis - Vessel to Seabed
o    Quayside Mooring
o    Vessel to vessel mooring
o    DP capability analysis, project specific
o    Positioning footprints project specific
o    Stability of crane vessels, transportation barges, other vessels, submerged structures
o    Longitudinal strength calculations
o    Loadout engineering
o    Transportation analysis - Design input for grillage and seafastening. Sailability limits
o    Towing engineering - Tug selection.
o    Mating impact analysis
o    Workability Forecast
o    Preparation and class approval of loading manuals and onboard computer programs
o    Preparation of parts of vessel’s operations manual
o    Supervision and checking of external engineering
o    Investigation of modification proposals
o    Preparations for operational upgrades
o    Engineering assistance for ship repair and dry-docking
o    Design, weight, loading and cost calculation for vessels and barges
o    Prepare technical specifications for construction/conversion/modification of vessels/barges

•    Previous experience in offshore installation
•    Flexible and proactive approach to designs, changes, and challenges
•    Ability to communicate effectively
•    Professional and curious attitude
•    Strong analytical skills and technical ability
•    Excellent computer skills and knowledge of relevant software (AQWA, Ansys Fluent/CFX, Shipshape, Matlab, GMoor, DPCap, MS Office) is preferred
•    Comfortable working in a team, with high sense of responsibility
