ROLE OVERVIEW

The Reel Lay Installation Analysis Engineer will be responsible to provide engineering and pipelay modelling engineering skills to pipeline installation projects utilizing reel lay vessels, tendering activities, engineering studies, vessels and equipment and/or offshore engineering processes of rigid pipeline systems in compliance with codes and Client specifications. This engineer will report to the Reel Lay Installation Analysis Lead and will be assigned to projects when required.

All personnel are expected to contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.

 

SPECIFIC KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES

 

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to a technical scope within the project/tender team by producing technical analysis reports and providing vessel utilization details.
  • Involved in conceptual studies. This includes providing early-stage pipe lay calculations to tendering team and/or FEED and field development teams.
  • Performs pipelay specific installation analyses (static and dynamic modelling)
  • Ensures that installation analysis reports and procedures are in line with Subsea7 standards and/or industry specifications.
  • Ensures that specifications and norms related to the project are respected by incorporating client project specifications and requirements in the pipelay analysis.
  • Provides support to offshore operations with possible short periods offshore. This can include any analysis required to verify a change required offshore or providing clarofocations to offshore crew and client representatives.
  • This may include updates to the spooling analysis due to a change in weather at the quay.
  • Participates actively to engineers training and development
  • Participates actively to the PG department know-how consolidation by submitting project close-out reports that include any lessons learned from the project that might be beneficial for future projects. May also include sharing of experience by hosting technical sessions.
  • Proposes innovative solutions allowing cost & risks reduction

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

  • Previous experience and knowledge in subsea pipeline installation engineering (S-Lay or Reel-Lay) are required.
  • Previous experience working with Orcaflex is essential, Python and Abaqus packages are desirable
  • Sound communication skills, oral, written and electronic.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within time/budget constraints.
  • Ability to manage interfaces including other disciplines, drawing office, document control, project management, client and suppliers for own scope.
  • Commitment to Continuing Professional Development.
  • Professional qualifications – Degree qualified or above. Preferably in Ocean, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or Naval Architecture
  • 1 to 3 years' experience in installation or construction projects
  • Orcaflex experience is required.
  • Experience with MOSES and/or WAMIT is a plus.
  • Python and Abaqus work experiences are desirable
  • Able to analylize the results and recommend a path forward to the project teams
