Functionally reporting to the Tendering Director and operationally to the Tender Lead, the Commercial Manager is the Commercial Lead and as such has the entire responsibility of all commercial aspects of the tender submission, from cost estimate, risks & opportunities assessment, tax assessment, Finance, tender deliverables, and technical/commercial/contractual qualifications. The Commercial Manager is also in charge of the overall tender administration, preparation, and timely submission through the coordination of all parties involved.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish the platform to support an effective tender submission through development of the tender organization, budget, schedule, and administrative controls.
  • Actively collaborate with the Tender Lead and the Sales and Marketing Director to develop, communicate, and implement the winning execution plan and strategy for the tender.
  • Ensure that client’s requirements are identified and understood by assigning the review of all ITT documents to the tender team members.
  • Coordinate and consolidate all deliverables from the support functions (Project Management, Onshore and Offshore Operations, Engineering, HSEQ, SCM including Fabrication, Chartering and Logistics, PG, Tax, Legal & Contract, Finance and Insurance) and challenge where necessary in a collaborative and constructive manner.
  • Coordinate the cost estimate with the Estimating Engineer, and organize all reviews deemed necessary to finalize it: SCM reviews, schedule reviews, peer reviews, costing reviews, etc...
  • Identify, analyze, assess, and mitigate risks associated to the execution of the project. Risks can be technical & operational in nature, but also commercial and contractual.
  • Coordinate the submission and approval by management of our proposed deviations to the Subsea7 contracting principles.
  • Obtain all necessary approvals through adherence to the tendering procedures and processes and maintain traceability throughout the tender and post tender clarification and negotiation phases.

 

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Preferably graduated from an engineering school.
  • 3 to 5 years technical experience in engineering, fabrication, or operations department, ideally in the Oil & Gas subsea segment, but potentially from a different construction industry as well. Prior experience in Estimating is also preferred.
  • Proactive, thorough, and curious.
  • Good commercial and business awareness.
  • Team player, with excellent work relationship skills.
  • Tender control and quality are key focus, requiring a combination of sense of prioritization and attention to details.
  • Able to understand the bigger picture, as well as Subsea7 businesses, focuses and drivers.
  • Independent and knowledgeable.
  • Ethical and can be trusted with confidential information.
  • Engaged and committed to meet tight deadlines.

  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Creative problem solving - able to suggest and develop new methods and ways of working.
  • Sound communication skills – able to communicate ideas and results to various stakeholders both in written reports and in meetings, presentations etc.
  • The ability to work in a team as well as individually with a minimum of supervision.
  • The ability to organize and prioritize own work and as such have responsibility for discrete work packages ongoing simultaneously.
  • Understanding of clients’ needs and ability to suggest and apply “fit for purpose” solutions.
