WHAT IS THE ROLE?

Seaway7 is looking for a Business Development Manager for UK & Ireland on a full time, staff basis, situated within our Westhill office with a requirement for regular travel throughout the region.

Through proactive client engagement, the Business Development Manager provides the foundations to enable tenders to be effectively delivered and new projects secured.

Reporting to the Sales & Marketing Director for the Business Unit, you will actively ensure the pursuit of future business across the fixed offshore wind sector within the region and establish, develop, and maintain long-term relationships with key identified clients to ensure that Seaway7 remains well positioned to secure new business opportunities.

 

WHAT WILL YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES INVOLVE?

  • Responsibility for all business development activities for the region
  • Understanding of key account organisations, strategies, opportunities and decision-making processes
  • Maintain regular contact and develop long-term relationships, communicating our services and capabilities and matching same with clients technical and commercial requirements as they evolve over the lifecycle of a prospect
  • Maintain a thorough awareness of the market, economic and political landscape in the UK & Ireland and the relationship with Seaway7’s business strategy
  • Work closely with Market Analysts and Sales & Marketing Director to develop the regional strategy and period business planning activities
  • Development and implementation of Client Engagement Plans and effective management of strategic client & supplier relationships
  • Identification of all prospects in the UK & Ireland region and maintenance of the Seaway7 relationship database
  • Management and implementation of Pursuit Plans for agreed targets
    • Development of pre-bid strategies for all identified pursuits
    • Direct pursuit strategy board reviews with senior and executive level management, providing detailed handover to the tendering team
  • strategic bidding support throughout the lifecycle of a pursuit
  • Liaise regularly with internal stakeholders to obtain an understanding of project performance for key accounts and provide feedback on client relationship
  • A comprehensive understanding of our competitor strategies, capabilities, assets, status and availability regularly monitoring and providing updates to internal stakeholders as required
  • Travel as required to support business, typically short durations
  • Represent Seaway7 by hosting client entertainment and participating in industry events

 

WHAT EXPERIENCE DOES THE ROLE REQUIRE?

  • Degree qualification (business/technical) and relevant work experience and other qualifications would be advantageous
  • Sound knowledge & interest of the offshore wind sector, particularly within the UK & Ireland
  • Experienced working with CRM systems, in particular Microsoft Dynamics 365
  • Able to efficiently develop and maintain positive relationships with external stakeholders and demonstrate appropriate levels of experience with business development, tendering and strategy
  • Expert attention to detail with good written and verbal communication skills  
  • Ability to prioritise workload and self-direct delivery to internal and customer deadlines
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver on regional strategies across multiple offices
  • Committed to the highest levels of confidentiality and integrity acting as an ambassador for Seaway7
  • An articulate and effective communicator you build positive collaborative relationships
  • A strategic thinker with a sound technical understanding and attention to detail
